OLIGHT S30 Baton(1x18650,XM-L2)Magnetic tailcap-REVIEW

Thanks Daniel

The tint is not green.
My pictures really look a little greenish(especially these at 1 meter,on the lower modes),but this is mostly because of the short exposure time they were taken.
The yellowish corona that almost any XM-L2 + smooth reflector flashlight have is represented as green by the camera, because of the exposure time.

Nice light, great review! Thank you!

Is the GITD ring glow in blue or still green?

Great photos as always, thanks for the review

wow thanks for this review. i think i will go purchase me one now. hope its not too expensive

Thanks FlashLion for the review , great Work. I love the Olight Interfaces.

Great review. Thanks.

At BG, GB and HKE: $59,95

Group buy? Coupon?

if it didnt have greenish tint, I will buy one.!

Thanks
There are just particles that are glowing in green. But they are very dim and fade quickly.
Could be useful just to check where is the front of the flashlight.

The beam has no greenish tint. Maybe some of my beamshots are little misleading this time.
The light is more white than the light from Fenix PD35 and ThruNite TN12.
Lets wait for more opinions on the beam, which will confirm my opinion.

Thanks for the answer. Amazing pictures!

I have had the S30R for over a month now and there is no greenish tint. This flashlight is great with a fantastic UI. More than bright enough for any conceivable EDC use. I have no doubt that it would work well as a automotive headlight should mine ever fail. The ability to access moonlight mode and turbo mode at anytime is extremely useful. How many times have you needed moonlight to avoid ruining your night vision (or in a crowded restaurant to read the menu) but your last used mode was high? With this light, all you have to do is press and hold (from off) and it will come on in moonlight mode. Double tap from any mode and you have turbo mode. Triple tap for flashing mode.

I love this light! it has everything I want in an EDC plus long run times. I almost bought a few more but frankly, I only really need one.

Thanks for the post SteveCA and welcome to BLF.

The quick access to Moonlight mode is a big + for all Olight flashlights that have it. It’s always good to know on which mode the light will start. Olight gives us this option.

Yes,people that have the S30R should share their opinion about the tint, because the S30 is the same flashlight, without the charging option.

Beautiful photos and excellent review!

I have heard that some people are having troubles with their S30R’s. Does anyone know anything about that? (Sorry if off topic)

I’ve had a bad tail cap (s30r) that caused flickering on turbo mode. I know some folks said to clean the tail cap but mine had to be replaced. Other than that, it has been a great EDC light. I replaced my trusty 4Sevens quark AA with this light. While the quark was a great light, the interface on the S30r is better still plus it uses the 18650 which I prefer over the 14500 which has at best 1/4 the capacity of the 18650’s.

Olight S30 Baton - 1000 LUMENS - YouTube I was watching this review, there reviewer says that 1000lumene is only possible when using CR123A batteries.
Can any one confirm this?

Thanks for the review. Couldn’t resist $22 price at GB, especially after reading about the tint. I do have a S15 Titanium that does have a greenish tint and the blue side button that can be problematic. Beautiful looking polished titanium though.

Guys,

I’m a Tint-Snob and really Hate Green!

Just received mine a couple of hours ago and there is NO Green or even Blue for that matter… Sure there is the requisite yellow in the Corona that is typical of a Cree XML size die, but all in all - A Very Nice CW.

I was afraid to order (because of the Puke Green of the S10/S15 and S20, but for $22.59 I thought what the heck… The Man said there is no green so I’ll take him at his word. - Thanks Flashlion!!!

Thanks Olight! - Thanks Gearbest!

Thanks for giving us so much information, especially since I’m waiting to get this very piece of awesome in the mail

One thing confuses me, though: if the low mode only drains 42mA, which even on a relatively low-cap battery such as a 2600mAh translates to around 60 hours of runtime… how come does Olight specify it as only lasting 26 hours? Sure, being conservative with your measurements is all well and good, but that much difference seems like a gross miscalculation for a brand as renowned as Olight to let pass. 8-|

Thanks for reading Jack Kellar!
I don’t know how much is the difference when using two batteries for higher voltage. Olight and many other manufacturers use 2x CR123A (6V total) for testing run time.

That’s odd. Everything else matches when I did a test by dividing a certain capacity by the current you measured. Moonlight runtime match a 3400mAh’s capacity, Turbo matches a 2600mAh, while Medium runtime stays between what a 3100 and a 2600 would supply. Meanwhile, Low would theoretically run for 61.9h on a 2600, and up to 80.95h on a 3400 one.

It’s really puzzling to me that they wouldn’t match exactly on such a low-strain mode…
