NEW product!

Sliced Emitters

I will we offering a new product which I think is great!

After a few tests I’ve decided to offer sliced emitters, sliced emitters are similar to de-doming but keeping the original tint of the led!

This is a halfway point between dome on and dome off i.e…

De-dome = intense hotspot - tint shift/lumen loss
Sliced dome = more intense hotspot than dome on- but less intense than de dome - no tint shift/lumen loss
Dome on = floodier hotspot

For all of you out there who like the CW tint (me included) sliced is a great choice

I know this is not some kind of new breakthrough its just the first time i will be offering the option

I have not polished the dome on top and kept it ‘frosted’ similar to XPL-XHP domes

From initial tests it looks great

Don’t get me wrong, if you want maximum throw then de dome is the way to go, but if your after a halfway point then sliced works well

!!

Received my order today. Very pleased turned up quickly and was in great condition! Would recommend :crown:

Thanks, good to hear! Glad you like it

Updated!

Sliced DOME is the way to go…….

My MTG2’s DeDome look considerably less bright vs. Dome-On equivalents (all variables equal).

Sliced, you don’t notice the Lumen Loss and the hotspot IMHO is much improved. This may be the very best innovation since SLICED BREAD

How close to the led wires do you make the cut 1mm / 0.5mm, less? Are you using something to guide the razor to the selected height?

I think the full de dome will always leave a tighter hotspot, but sliced has its uses, especially the tint staying the same/similar

There will be lumen loss in full de dome but gains in a tighter hotspot, personal preference I suppose!

All my bigger reflector end lights are full de domes

It depends on the emitter, mostly a washer or centering gasket to guide it with a single slice to stop jagged edges I’d say between 0.5mm off the bond wires hard to tell exactly because the remaining dome magnifies the wires making them look closer.

Do you offer sliced triple XP-Ls too? If so, will they fit under carclo optics?

Yes… And yes

I’ve just put 1 sliced XPL on a triple with carclo optic and it fits ok, the bottom of the optic touches the left over ‘dome’ so if it was screwed down tight it might do some damage? Maybe not?

This is just the first test but yes, it fits nicely

Good to know, thanks. I might be getting some from you.

No worries, whenever your ready!

I will now be offering a Finest de domed tint service for an extra fee, I will hand pick the best de domed tints.
I prefer neutral towards the more cool white tints so my ‘FDT’ will be as based off my eyes.
This means the FDT will be a cooler white with least green.
The idea will be to steer away from the greenish tints that can be possible with de domed emitters.
This also means the emitters will be CW before de dome ie. U3 1A,V5 2A, R5 1A
The emitters will be tested at 3A. (Lower currents tints can look different)

The extra fees will be:

FDT XPG2 - £6
FDT XML2 - £7
FDT XPL - £7

The extra prices might be steep for some, it is due to the volume of emitters sold and the fact that it is not in a light, this means the profit that would be made on the light can not subsidise the FDT emitter, it would end up costing me money (hope that makes sense)

I have to de dome a lot of emitters to do this which also costs me money.

However there will be a discount if you buy a modded light from me with FDT

Hello,
I want to to ask if i have chosen the right LED for my new Host.
The Host is a Convoy M1 (https://www.fasttech.com/products/1277400) and i want to use a De-domed XML2 U3 1A 6500-7000K 20×1.55mm DTP Copper.
If this is the rigt LED please can you give me a price for the LED inkl. shipping to Germany?
And maybe someone know if i can use this Driver for the build (https://www.fasttech.com/p/1186301). It would be nice if i can use the Driver because i have already two modded onec here. I added two extra AMC7135 350mA on each board. So that i get 3,5A out of it. I hope that the Convoy M1 can handle the heat better than the WF-502B Host because the 502B is getting very warm after 2-3min.

PM sent

Edit: and yes you can use the driver you mentioned
