LEDs & Other Stuff - (Reference Guide)

Thanks, i’m happy you find it useful.

There is now a Just the Links version for much faster loading & bandwidth conservation.

On some of the graphs the details are too out of focus to be very legible so maybe a link to the appropriate led PDF or BLF test thread would be sufficient and improve download speed. At least for me it seems that links show up before the images do but having the various led images all together is a must for identifying one. Another way would be to use the BLF page system to break up the op into more bite size chunks and just have a link in the op to an led Vf vs current post for example. Just a thought and I’m not so conversant with data organization as many others .

Great post CRX!

I would like to contribute the Luxeon tint chart.

And this SSC tint chart (Credit goes to flashlightwiki)

Excellent post, thank you for your sharing.
Useful info

Hello everyone, I’ve been collecting flashlights for years now, well my cousin also, my question is this, does Brinkmann make Defiant? My cousin found the Defiants one day at Home Depot and the stocking up began for us, even though we never were lucky enough to find the legendary Super Thrower. Now days it seems as if Defiant is no more, Home Depot is not restocking and online is even worse. I’m really just curious as to who owned or manufactured Defiant and how could they come into the Flashlight game and sell at such a low price. Thanks guys I look forward to learning so much.

this needs to be in book form! would make a hell of a reference book for us

Excellent post, thank you for your info

Great information about LED!

There may be a better thread to ask this. If someone knows of one, please let me know and I will "move" this post over there.

I can't find any rosin-core lead-bearing solder for electrical equipment locally. Does anyone know a decent quality and price on-line source? I don't know if 50/50 lead/tin or what is good for our applications (reflowing LED's & components, soldering wires, etc).

Old Lumens might know

^ Thanks CRX. Good recommendation.

Found this thread that may be a better place to hash out the details of solder. If some definitive info comes out of it, I will post it here.

I bought and use this: https://www.all-spec.com/products/KW4415.html, same place I bought my Hakko iron from: http://www.all-spec.com/products/FX-888D.html (latest model).

This solder is 63/37 and was recommended by a "super tech" I work with.

After all the hard work CRX has put into this thread i hate to ask for more, but a month/year release date for new emitters would be nice, so if i miss the post about a new emitter it would show up here and i would know it just came out and could look up its datasheet.

Hi Bort. All suggestions and ideas are welcome, but might not be implemented
I try to keep up to date on chat about new releases in the section Discussions on the latest LEDs & Other Stuff.
I’m in the process of updating this thread so any links etc would be welcome.
Is there a convenient place to go to for such information?

This is the only one i can think of
http://www.cree.com/news-and-events/cree-news/press-releases
I suppose you could use google search with time frames selected.

This chart of the American wire guage table is one I have bookmarked for my own use but seems like it might be a good fit for your op. It charts resistance by wire size per unit length so it’s not too difficult to figure what losses might be in a given set up.

Does anyone else apart from me think that all of djozz's testing needs a thread or post with links for easy access? The testing he has done is phenomenal.

Wow! What a great resource collection. Thank you very much!

Hi CRX. If you’re interested, maybe also add the tests djozz did on the XHP-70 & 50 here and here. Keep up the great work

Links to most of my emitter test threads are present in the OP of this thread. I will also take some time soon, adding emitter test links to my sig-line.
