Modified Lights For Sale (10 for sale)(5 left)

You could have some fun spotting stuff from the observation tower at night.

Thanks, the knives have been kind of back burner for a while, I was pushing too hard for a while and the hand sanding took a toll on my elbows and hands. I still have about 18 hardened blades to finish up from CPM 3V, pretty soon I’m going to start trying to ease back into sanding and trying to get some more of them finished up, but after I make it through the 40 or so that I have cut I’m going to be exploring having the pieces produced by local shops and getting out of some of the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into them. Hopefully that means I can bring the cost to make, and final price down. There is a guy I know through SME that owns a shop with great equipment, and he’s always pushing the envelope for precision and speed. I trust that he is capable of machining them better than I can make them by hand. And really I care more about that than the “hand crafted” aspect.

That might work. I just work way too much and so my schedule ends up getting way too full. What time frame were you thinking? I figured if our paths ever crossed it would save on any shipping hassle.

I’m pretty darn flexible for the couple of weeks, then I’ll be swamped for a couple weeks. I’m not a fan of sleep, and I kind of make my own schedule at my real job, so depending on the day anytime after 9am and before 3am would work.

Maybe we could even get Pilotdog68 to join us if it happened to be a time when he was in Omaha?

Just so everyone is aware, I have about 45 lights available to modify, in about 10 different models. If anyone wants a light built to their specs you can PM me and we can discuss what you’re looking for. I’m open to ordering a light specifically for someone, but would need the cost of the light and any ordered components as a deposit with the balance due when it’s ready to ship, anything I have in stock would only require payment after I finish building it and provide lumens and kcd numbers and pictures. I have the ability to to some custom machining as well on the lights as long as re-threading isn’t involved.

45. Nice!! I’m jealous. I am interested in getting a real strong thrower and probably a high power pocket rocket like one of those S6’s.

I have some S6 hosts that I can do with triple XP-G2 S2 1D’s like the one still listed, or with XP-L’s, however I’m going to be using drivers with a 30 second turbo timer with these going forward to reduce the danger of them getting too hot. For a real strong thrower, how strong? I think I can hit 480+ kcd in a 1405 but the 5A driver has audible whine in lower modes, or a proven 425+ in the 1504 for less effort/cost and no noise. With the new buck driver from Mountain Electronics, 500kcd in the 1405 may be possible at some point without audible whine, but I need to get boards, build them first, and test them.

What kind of medium modes do you end up with on the S6’s? Halfway decent runtimes? As for throwers…… yeah anything in the 425+ candela range would be good. That puts it in FF4 territory anyways.

Yeah it gets a lot better runtime stepped down. Never done an actual test, but I suspect around 90 minutes at 20, 3 hours at 10, and 10-20 hours at 2%.

The boards I have right now use a 30 second step down, I had requested they step down to 20, skipping 75 and 40. I’m not sure if Richard was able to program them that way, or if he had to eliminate 75 and just have it step down to 40%. I don’t remember hearing back what he did, so I’ll have to test the drivers to find out.

I also have some bare boards and components for 15 BLF17DD’s with guppydrive(sp?).

I also have red Convoy S2+’s with the stainless switch I can do, not just S6’s. Though being smaller they will heat up a bit more.

I like the form factor of the S2 but I’m not a fan of the colored lights…. silver, grey, and black are preferable.

The S6’s I have are all black, you’re covered.

Awesome. Just surprise me. I am not a fan of the strobe…. so if that is an option….otherwise no big deal.

If the guppydrive drivers I just put together work as expected would you prefer that or the one I described earlier with the 30 second turbo timer. If you want the guppydrive and want it locked on a specific mode and turbo timer let me know and I’ll set it up and solder the second star to ground.

Edit: MTN17DD guppydrv drivers are up and running.

Take $5 off of the listed prices for the remaining lights. (new prices listed in original post) I’ll offer an additional discount via PM if anyone buys 2. Prices would still include USPS Priority shipping anywhere in the continental US, international shipping is actual cost -$10.

I’m looking to clear space in my “finished lights toolbox” so I can make some more.

New prices are up, some of the price drops are significant. Thanks guys.

I just received #8 from Henry,it has a nice bright beam with a pleasant neutral temp, terrific little light.

I’m glad you like it!

Two more lights shipped this morning. Down to 5. Once a couple more sell I’ll close this thread and be posting some more lights I’ve been working on in a new for sale thread. Thanks again for those who bought lights already.

Both lights arrived today and are entirely as expected.

Nice and bright and very well modified.

Thanks Henry,

Tom

As a follow up I just want to say I had an issue with my light,Henry bent over backwards to come up with a solution that worked for me,would not hesitate buying another flashlight off him. Thanks
