Banggood irresponsible customer service

Hi,

I’m new in the forum and I never posted something because I don’t have special knowledge about flashlights neither multiple flashlights to compare them. But what happened to me doesn’t need much knowledge to notice that is very very weird.

I put the conversation below:

——-ABSTRACT [for who that doesn’t want to read everything]

I received a Convoy S3 from Banggood as I asked, but when I put the battery and attached the tail cap it just turns on when I start to attach it. When the tail cap is complete attached the flashlight doesn’t turn on. So I asked for replacement and the customer service asked to me to fix the flashlights, when I said that I couldn’t fix it, they insist and the conversation never ends.

——-Original CONVERSATION

Dear Sir:

We are sorry for the inconvenience and I am the professional guy.Did you test the flashlight with other 18650 battery and did you test the other tail cap for this flashlight? The supplier told me it might be the bad connetion cause this problem. Please make sure the circuit warehouse and tail ring is tightly.

Hope this will help you and look forward to hear from you.

best regards

Yeah, I did. No, I don’t have another tail cap. And it seems to be the bad connection, in the video that I sent maybe is possible to see the light came on and off while I was attaching the tail cap, but I have basic knowledge in electronic devices and any in flashlight circuit so I don’t know how to verify this.

Thanks

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your reply and I had confirm with the supplier this flashlight have a connection problem on the tail cap. Please follow this way:Please use a tweezers to screw the aluminum ring which is inside the
tail cap. There are two holes on the ring please screw the ring
clockwise. Please try and help to solve this problem. And hope to hear the
good news.

Hi,

Today I was back to home and tried something like that, but I couldn’t deal with it. So how will you help me? Will send me another? I just buy a flashlight and I’d like to use it soon. I tried to be helpful until now, but I think that if the manufacturer know this problem, why they send defected flashlight?

Thank you and I hope that this conversation finishes soon!

Dear Sir:

I am sorry to hear that but can you try more times? We had test the item before shipping it might be cause when shipping. The supplier offer me this kind of solution. If the led and cricuit is normal then this will be the only solution.

Please try.

Hi, seriously, it’s very weird for me. It is the first time that I bought something and the manufacturer ask to me to fix it. And I don’t have a tweezers.
Please send me another flashlight when it comes, I will send this one.
I thought that Banggood would be more professional when I bought, I’m very sad.
And if what you want to hear is if I tried, the answer is YES, I tried with the tools that I have and it didn’t work. I am not a professional, I don’t have the specific tools and neither the skills.

I would try again, for the sake of not trashing something the could very much probably work with very little effort on your side.

If the flashlight works than it’s clearly a loose contact somewhere, probably in shipping. A friend ordered a C8 from BG a while ago and complained that it did not work. I simply loosened and tightened the driver retaining ring and magic, we have light. I would not call that irresponsible.

Okay… So if the tail cap to become loose in the shipping is a very common effect, a good solution would be to send a tool and a manual together with the flashlight.

My desire to have a flashlight doesn’t require electronic skills, I just want to buy a flashlight.

did you try flipping the body? unscrew the head and tail pieces of the light and swap them on the body. this sounds like the behavior I’ve seen when I have it backwards. on my lights I’ve noticed one side is anodized and one side is not - with the un-anodized threads attaching to the head if I remember right.

Unfortunately, life does not work that way in China. If it worked, or even if it didn’t work when it went out, it’s the way it is. There are no real guarantees. If you want a guarantee or a warranty, buy local and buy retail. Then you can take it back for a replacement or refund. Buying something from overseas, from someone you don’t know, is about as frustrating as it gets, but it is what it is. Don’t buy thinking that it will always be as good as buying from your local store. It’s not how it works. Be informed and if you cannot troubleshoot the light, then probably you should not buy from unknown sellers thousands of miles away, because you got about a 50/50 chance of getting a good item. It may sound harsh, but that’s the truth of it.

Loose retaining ring (either on driver side or the switch side) first thing that popped my mind…
You don’t just want to buy a flashlight, you want a budget aka cheap flashlight, there’s a difference there.
I can recommend Nitecore or Fenix or Olight flashlights and you will not have to fiddle with anything, they, in 99% cases, work as expected from the box.

Yeah, I tried to unscrew the tail cap using a tiny screwdriver, but nothing moved, maybe I need real tweezers. Anyway, thank you.

This, if what he says is true, its the easiest of the potential fixes.

Use a compass or a nail, or any number of things that might tighten the ring(s).

I agree, you should just be able to use it, but that clearly isnt happening so Id be trying the things they say anyway. I also think its a likely tale that the ring could come loose in transit. I doubt thats true to be honest, it left the factory that way IMO.

Lastly, if you have trouble, dont let the 45 day or whatever it is period to let PayPal sort it out pass, lodge your complaint in time. PayPal wont make you fix this or that, or tweak this or that etc, just demonstrate it does not work.

no don’t bother with the set ring, just swap the head and tail sections on the body by simply unscrewing them by hand. let us know if that works.

The retaining ring is probably a reverse thread; that’s how they are in my S2’s and S6’s.

Another thing to add is that the retaining ring for the switch might b on too tight… So unscrew it half a turn and try to see if it works aswell. Same thing happened to allI of my a60’s.

Another thing u could try do is bypass the switch using ur small screw driver or something metal. Put the battery in torch and make connection with the battery to the torch battery housing to confirm switch problem (which most likely is since when u screw the tailcap on it flickers)

I bought a power bank with a built in solar charger from Banggood recently that only worked for one day then died.
I told customer service about the problem and they ask me to make a short video demonstrating the problem.
I made the video and the next day they ask if I wanted a replacement. I said I’d rather have a refund and they credited my account without any hassles.
Needless to say I’m pretty pleased by their customer service and will be buying more from them soon, although probably not a power bank with built in solar charger.

dang, you should’ve mentioned thrunite because hey, they are the cheapest in the expensive named brand game
