DX gitd oring does not glow

Hi

I really feel f…. up with this:
http://www.dx.com/de/p/glow-in-the-dark-water-tight-silicone-o-ring-seal-20mm-20-pack-3449#.VS4tIC4xC88

and I bought 5 pack of this.

They does not glow.

I tell DX about this per emai and also per pn…

No money back or something…

Thanks to DX

I had that before. Some are good, a few had no glow, some had weak glow. I just use the no glow ones as std o-rings. I would contact them for a refund.

Thanks for the info I was just about to order these and other o-rings from them.

What I really dislike is
that I write emails to them
write pn from here to them
no answere at all…

Thanks for this professionell handling of business.

I’ve ordered GITD O-rings from various sellers in china, some glow some don’t,
but even the ones that glow don’t look very nice, lots of dark spots, grainy distribution of glow particles…

I wish there were some really good ones somewhere made with very fine particles of strontium-aluminate…

I dont remember when was the last time that my order from DX actually arrived…
Let alone being bothered by their sub-par description and CS :D!

If you read the reviews you will see that they don’t glow worth a darn. I suggest reading reviews and adjusting your expectations from China accordingly.

Pretty sure they do “glow” under UV light (Black Light). Of course the devil is in the details. Try exposing them to a light around 350-370nm. They should “glow”. Of course this stops once you turn the light off. lol

Fastech likely has the same ones. I bought them and no glow as we expect. But under a black light they did.

I used to buy them a lot (from dx) and the glow was quite good. My last 2 orders were a couple years ago. One had no glow, the other was mediocre.

You are right, thr oring glows when the UV light is on. lol

I got rooked by this too. I didn’t read the reviews. Now, I know better!

I had the same problem and for some, found a solution. Lay the O-rings in full sunlight for a day or so. I found that out by accident. It seems like they need activating or something. Hope this can make them work for you. TL

Worth a shot, gonna try that this week. If it quits raining. Just after I break up the cats & dogs in the yard!

I want to buy some for the color not for the GITD aspect. Just that DX seems to be the only ones with the orange color in the sizes I want. But is it worth the agony of sending money and then never knowing when or if they will ever arrive.

I used to be a very regular buyer of DX years ago when KD was also very popular, but tried out all the many others and eventually favoured others as time passed. I'd suggest to post a poor review too as it's been a bad experience so others learn of it.

Does anyone have an alternative vendor for colored O-rings? I don’t know if DX is just leaving items that are out of stock on their website to make it look like they have stuff others don’t. But I can’t find orange O-rings or tail cap boots at anyother vendor.

Fasttech have them https://www.fasttech.com/category/1607/diy-kits-parts-o-ring-seals

I'm sure many other major ones would have too.

Unfortunately not in the sizes I am looking for. I guess I will try a small order with DX and then report back.

+1

I’ve made my own GITD O-Rings using plastic tubing and “Glow Inc” Ultra Green v10 powder.

A little messy (until you seal the ends with epoxy); but glows better (way better!) than of the pigmented silicone rings.
