Review: Convoy S2+ (the red one!) – Fantastic 18650 EDC

I have several lights that are a few years old that also use that driver. the light must run for 5 seconds to memorize modes. I just got used to it. lol

It is a very good light for $13. Fortunately, I had the help of the good folks here to figure out the UI. Thanks again folks :)

I was wondering why so many say $12 light when I only see the $13 light. Is there a secret probation price discount here? (I paid $12.99 and am patiently waiting for delivery)

I paid $12.99, plus shipping with tracking and insurance, for a total of $16.24 (from Gearbest with coupon S2490, delivered to Europe with Post NL)

That’s exactly what I paid.

Funny how that $12.99 is now up to $16.24.

Thanks,

-Chuck

I also paid $12.99.

My girlfriend was very happy when she got it, now she’s very careful not to scratch that lovely anodizing :wink:
Love that steel switch :smiley:
Wish Convoy has more colors options so I can buy one for myself but I’m sure Simon will come up with something nice…

Thanks Convoy and GB for this lovely light…

Just went to fetch the S2+ at Customs….

It was held because of the tail cap image in the scanner :slight_smile: Appeared as a tazer! hehe

First impressions:
Positives:

- Red is awesome.

- Fantastic build quality.

- Great aluminium switch.

- Got a decent lanyard included.

  • Tail stand

So so

- Not squared threaded.

- No spare o ring included.

- Only the tail cap threads of the body is anodized? (coloured red)

  • The knurling is not very aggressive. Has some slipperiness to it.

Have no cell to test it out. Plain day light anyways :slight_smile:

Received my red Convoy S2+ in the mail yesterday. Compared to the other two S2+’s that I have it does tint yellow. But it is noticeably brighter as well since it is *8 and the others are *3/4. As with the other two, I’m very impressed and this will become my on-duty back up light. Actually I can see myself using it far more than my Streamlight Stinger.

Very pleased. :slight_smile:

If my math is correct, I’m figuring ‘on paper’ run times as follows;

Assuming an 18650 with 2600mAh capacity:

High = 2.8 amps = 1 hour 7 minutes

Medium = 1.12 amps = 2 hours 32 minutes

Low = 140mA = 18 hours 57 minutes

Hi Dave,

Please check your figures for the high level again. - Looks like you did the calc backwards.

Should be 2600/2800, no?

Thanks,

-Chuck

Hehe spot on Chuckov :slight_smile: I am so pleased with the 22 hours runtime on low (about 50 lumens) that I am going to give my quark away and use that instead as night lamp :slight_smile:

Works great on a 3200 mah cell!

My bad, good catch :slight_smile:

I agree, it’s pretty substantial and 50 lumens is enough light to do quite a few tasks.

Ordered on May7, arrived today - a week after my knife order placed on May20!

This is a nice FL, too bad I promised it for SO. Shoulda ordered 2.

I wonder where the blue one is. Bought a red one for the wife. I’d like one for myself if there was a blue one.

YES - I want a BLUE one in 1A, please!

Thanks,
-Chuck

can you try to cook your red S2?
just for know how color it will turn

+1

I have an S2+ recently bought from Shenzhen Convoy Electronics Co., Ltd. on AliExpress. It was slightly on when switched off. I took the switch out with considerable effort. It turns out that the ring holding it in has a left hand thread! Very strange and user unfriendly. I didn’t see the problem and didn’t take the switch apart, but the problem went away when I put it back together.
Aside from those two things, it seems perfect for what it is.
