Warsun Zoomie X65. Bro of UF1405?

Me again with questions regarding throw comparison to Jacob A60, anyone can report back about how this light throws :D?

waiting for throw numbers as well.

if it beats a 200kcd without too much trouble, I am interested

Ordered one from GB - coupon: JUNE15GB for 8% off. It's a sitewide coupon code, so they say, but for lights that already have a discount shown (not really a discount...), the coupon code will increase the price, maybe. The code works well for the X65 sinc'e it is not listed discounted now.

Ahh, the GBX65 code from the GearBest Specials thread here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/28604. I missed that - little better than the JUNE15GB code.

I’m sure this is not the first topic about it but……instead of using a short focal length fresnell lens you could possibly use a small pre-collimating lens.

The right one will concentrate the light from the emitter onto the mail lens without any or much light being lost inside the head.

De distance between the pre collimating lens and the main lens (so the focal length of the main lens does play a big part in this) is again very important.
You can easily see how much light is being lost in a zoomie when you try it out, in a dark room, going from flood to throw and back, looking at the light reflected from the ceiling.

The difference is so obvious that you don’t even need to measure it to see it.
Roughly 50% of the output gets lost on full spot zoom.

There was a thread about using multiple lenses, but I stopped following it because I didn’t see any report of configurations and results.
I think it makes sense, when a short focal length lens is not available for a reasonable price, to add a second converging lens instead. There are practical issues like how to fix it in place and retaining useful zoom in to flood mode.

I now have the color 3 x XP-E variant shown above, but called “SHARP EAGLE ZQ-SH-01 3*CREE XML-XPE Multifunctional 1600LM 6-Mode White & Blue & Yellow Light Portable Flashlight Black, SKU: 32004999”, $8.99 with coupon, from Tmart.
It is really cool white, warm white and blue. The lens is so long focal length that it projects fairly clear images of the off-center LEDs. Being off center does increase the chromatic aberration of the white ones. The nut on the side is a tripod mount, but it is not near the center of gravity, especially when zoomed to spot. The pill slides in the head.
The pill refuses to unscrew from the body, for me also. I might keep the three colors, but I at least want to bypass resistors in the driver.
I tried twisting left as well as right. The disk that holds the star in won’t come off either. I think it is aluminum.
All the shininess inside does not seem to do much harm. The main rings are from reflection off the black sides of the head, where the pill slides.

The LED Lenser P14 is 4xAA. It is not a budget light, but Tmart has it (or claims to at least) for a more or less budget price.

The 3 x XP-E cool white is in the lower right. Upper left is my stage lighting Fresnel lens with an XM-L. They both way out-throw all of my other lights.

The XP-E with the long focal length lens gives incredible throw. The focal lengths are similar, but the biger lens gives a warmer tint and throws more of the light.

I like it looks and feel. It is no Yezl t9, but it is nicer than a lot of lights I have. The only real problems are getting the pill and the retaining plate out.

The 3-emitter “nut light” zoomie (“Sharp Eagle”)

mentioned Is this a nut light or what :D recently

comes with a decent 3xAA (not AAA) battery holder — got mine yesterday.

Very nice to have anything that takes AA cells, to give to people. Now if only someone could get the emitter out of the head ….

I wish they could sell these AAA AA compatible lights with an 26650 adapter. I don’t like the fact that the 26650s are loose in the tube. How do you guys feel about it?

Mine has a 3 x AA carrier and a plastic sleeve for a 26650.

I put in a small vise but couldn’t turn the pill with needle nose pliers stuck into the slots. So I squirted penetrating oil from the battery end. Next, maybe, I’ll try torching the battery tube while it is in the vise.

Even if I can’t get it open without destroying it, I will probably order an XM-L2 version to give to people who don’t use lithium ion batteries.

Sorry, my bad, 3 x AA carriers. From the photos I could not see a sleeve for 26650, but its good to know it does come with one! I might have missed this. Thanks Fritz.

Banggood has this now for 13.99$ xml2.
Here is the link from the email, I hope it works:

I just got 2 of these in the mail. Both came with a 26650 adapter tube. Exterior build quality is good, but the aluminum pill and switch retaining ring are the crudest I’ve ever seen. They appear to be cast and then machined or something. Stock output is weak, and quite blue. The stock lens also needs to be replaced if you’re serious about output.

It’s an OK host with potential if you put in enough time and money. It’s too bad really, if the pill, switch retaining ring, and lens were of equal quality to the ultrafire 1503 in quality it would be my favorite single cell zoomie host.

oh - thank god i cancelled my order an hour ago because i ordered when it was more expensive…

a bad lens is a no-go
tweaking the driver and maybe swapping the emitter is what i wanted to do at max

thanks for your opinion!
maybe you can upload some pics?

I just measured the one I modified with a copper and brass plug it press fit into the original stock pill. I also stripped the driver board and ran a wire directly from the battery + spring to the LED. No jumper on the tailswitch spring. Dedomed XP-G2 S3 3C on 16mm Noctigon soldered directly to the press fit pill insert.

I got 190kcd on an Efest purple 26650 3500mAh, and the LED is sitting too high so it’s slightly out of focus.

The lens was a bit hazy when viewed from the back side on the one I modified, and the focal length is pretty long. The pill is probably the harder situation for most people to modify. It’s got a big X in it that’s all air on the emitter shelf. Drilling it out and affixing your own shelf for the MCPCB is a must if you want to run much current. On the plus side mine had a genuine Omten switch in the tail.

I bet I’m losing at least 10% with the LED defocused, so the lens should be capable of 200kcd or more. In flood mode it’s actually very smooth, wide, and even, without the rings and other artifacts I’m used to with the cheap glass lenses in Uniquefire’s.

Edit: The lens in the second one did not have the slight haze in parts of the flast side of the lens.

Interior of pill has areas of finer grained, but still obviously un-machined cast areas like the switch retaining ring.
