REVIEW:New Convoy C8,Integrated Pill. $13.39 @GearBest

Got the new C8 from GearBest. 8*7135, 4C.

I'm always happy with Convoy products, very budget and good durability. There are several DIY Brand in China,Convoy is usually the cheapest one, but their quality is never depressed. They also provide an excellent after-sale service.

First Impression:
Very good anodizing and quality. It feels good in hand.
More pictures:
There is a gap between the tube and tail cap.
Very nice knurling. The engraved logo looks good too.
Here is the head and fins. I hope it could be deeper.
Tail cap. Sharp edges are machined well.
Integrated pill. There are 2 screws to fix the star.
It's a little too deep, hard to solder. but good for modding a copper pill plus optic.
(tube-in tail) Very smooth square threads and lubed.
(tube-in head) Same good threads. but un-anodized. Well, there might be a lot of discussion on the threads type.
Un-anodized might get crack or abrasion easily. But have better connection.
I personally prefer anodized one. I like the lock-out "function" to prevent any unexpected turn-on.
A close look of the driver.
Sorry I did not shoot the reflector and glass. I'm kinda OCD,can't stand the dust,so I sealed them.
I hate the retainer, stuck in the cap. I checked with Convoy that it is normal threads (not reversed)
Why not use a brass ring like the other models do?
The same thing happens in the driver retainer. Easy to crack.
--END--
Fair enough light, I'm happy with it. I'd be happier if some improvements are done.
Night pictures and more experience will be coming. Please post freely if you have any question or suggestion.

Don't know why the "H" in (L x W x H) turned into " ".

To lose tailcap turn it to the right, not left like usual !

Thanks for the review.

I really like the finish, it seems more matte than glossy by the photos.

I’ll have to check if one is the newer version or not, but I ordered 2 C8’s from BG a short while back this year… one has a glossy finish, the other most definitely matte.

oh gawd that scratch on the tailcap retainer ring

Which is better, this C8 or the incoming LuckySun BLF D80? Which one throw better?

The C8 throws better than the D80.

But I like the C8 better, it’s a bit longer and feels better (imo).

Thanks for the review.

Thank you very much

Hi,
Do 69.5mm protected batteries fit inside the flashlight. Thanks.

“This light works with flat top, button top, unprotected, and some protected cells. The Protected NCR18650PF, NCR18650B, & NCR18650GA sold here all fit in this light. Some other protected variations of the same cells may not fit. The NCR18650GA is a very tight fit”

Thank you for answering my question.

You are very welcome

Regarding the switch retainer ring. I believe it is reverse thread.

My first purchase from Mountain Electronics. Got the standard C8, XML-2 1A U2 tint, 8 amc 7135 drivers. I like Convoy flashlights.

I have 2 of the new version. they are great but for
sure pay attention to battery selection…
protected cells seem very long compared to
unprotected… I am giving one as a gift and went by RMM recommendations for protected batteries…

Yes it is reverse thread. Just checked one with Integrated Pill.

I could not find this information anywhere - does this light has any protection circuit?

I have only unprotected 18650, what will happen if voltage drops to let’s say 3.0V? Is there a cut-off, lower modes available only, blinking or any signal that I should stop using it? Or burning my battery down to zero?

Looks like a standard 105D:

Reverse polarity protection
Low input voltage warning: blinks once per second when voltage drops below 2.9V to 3V
