Red S2+ flashlight ,for girls, for your lover

Yes,

Buy what will we find inside???

Mine appears to be genuine with brass parts (ordered on 06 May) and I’m very happy with it.
I see GB has promotion again but I’ll wait until other colors are available and quality is confirmed (if that’s possible).
One of my small “XPE” zoomie from the same order arrived and its definitely not XPE. For that small and cheap light I don’t worry too much about quality but not for Convoy. I always expect good quality from Convoy.

ToyKeeper—those are awesome!
Can you do scallops/flames like on old school Hot Rods & some of Old-Lumens creations?

Why do people (like Otanacious) not buy directly from the Convoy Store?
To save 2$ and get a fake / cheaper version?

I support Convoy and buy all directly from them. THey make very nice lights and that should be supported.

+1 Convoy make good quality products and they have fair prices. They are semi-active on this forum, and they even made the Meteor just for us! Ok, that last part might be a stretch. But they have their own store, and I think they are worth supporting directly.

I have and still buy from the direct Convoy store :cash: I figured everyone was getting good deal, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon (albeit a little late, ordered May 29). I surely didn't expect to get some cut down version, but at the same time I'm not all too surprised that I did.

Some Murphy's law at work.

I recently purchased 4 red Convoys. 2 were the GearBest $12.99 and 2 were Simon's host. They all were identical...with copper pills. Simon has been warning about counterfeit Convoy and it sounds like someone shipped some (or at least one) to Gearbest. I guess we all know to look for aluminum pills to see of they are fakes.

As for getting Simon to convince Convoy about different colors....he IS Convoy and the only thing that holds him back is $$$. To give us the prices we expect his commitment is huge. Now if someone wanted to set up a poll to know what color and asked him to do a custom run for several hundred (lights and/or hosts) I am sure he would look into it for us. He is easily accessible if someone wants to ask him.

Thanks, I know where i will be buying Convoys from in the future.

Can someone show me a brass and an aluminium pill please?

I’m hoping… thinking, this is a good one. Ordered from GearBest, 12.99 on 21 May, arrived today (28th June) to the UAE. Here’s some piccies. It works great and seems exactly the same as one I have had for a few months (but paid more for with different tail switch)

I’m a bit of newb, is this the brass pill one?

I would say:“Yes”. It’s identical to the one I bought from Gearbest. The 105D driver is directly soldered to the pill because there is not enough room for a retainer ring.

Does anyone have a link to the Convoy store ?

Thanks,
Mike

TK: How about doing a GB for your version and with your driver software….

……………….I know……….I’m busy this summer, too.

Sorry, I don’t know how to make a real one which actually looks all rainbow-flame colored like that…

… but if it really existed, I’d buy a bunch of them.

I know how to build a triple and flash it, but RMM already does that better and cheaper than I could. So, you could buy one from him, or you could make one yourself. RMM sells all the parts, and the total for everything is about $50 including a high-amp battery.

I’ve seen some DIY-type stuff about how to anodize aluminum in various colors. Some of them even use Kool-Aid mix as the colorant (dye). So, doing your rainbow host might not be that hard. Maybe you could start the anodizing in clear, then use a paint brush to paint colors onto it. Perhaps let the colors dry on, then wipe away excess and finish anodizing to set the colors in.

You can do rainbow fades just by dipping it in colors in a certain order. To create flames you could then mask where you want flames, strip and dye a background color (orange in TK’s pic). Some of the thin feather lines would likely be difficult.

There are quite a few home anodizing guides around.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work!

I can’t even make an Easter egg look good… I think I’ll skip the version which uses an electric sulfuric acid bath instead of vinegar.

But it’s dilute sulfuric acid!

Now I want to make rainbow flame easter eggs too.
