Errm, I don’t think this is correct! I understand it still operates with a single cell, just like the previous short version. Else why would this new revision come with an optional extention tube, and not just a single long battery tube?!
Also is photographed in its short form without the extension being used. Would be a pretty rubbish backward step of it needed two cells at all times!
I guess BG wants us to order to find out! Personally I don’t think it would work with a single cell even if it should being an “updated version”, I don’t see shadow developing such boost/buck driver for a $39 light.
But then what’s attractive about this version? It’s the ability to power a 6V Led from a single cell that made it interesting in the first place.
Banggood can you just simply put some batteries and try it? Thanks.
This model light (Shadow JM35) has always worked in the SINGLE CELL configuration. It was first launched without any extension tube option as a Single cell ONLY version for both MTG2, then XHP-50 , options. It uses a boost driver and has been reviewed and discussed extensively here on BLF. (see M4D M4X's review).
why do you say this new offering has an ‘extension’ tube? Maybe it is only 1 piece and thus has to run on (2) cells. The specs don’t list an extension tube?
EDIT: Bizarrely, despite the photos (and logic!), the listing does state "Note: Please do not use protective 26650 battery for this flashlight. Can not use 1x 26650 battery."
So I don't know if they're mistaken or this is now a just badly designed light compared to the previous JM35 version!
Is it just an issue on my computer or did li-ion batteries suddenly become unavailable on Banggood? Every single one I clicked shows as sold out… EDIT: It’s a battery shipping issue - as I suspected.
