Blue S2+ flashlight, for guys, for your bro!

Correct. That’s what Simon told me. The silcone switch cover is the waterproofing for the switch. The stainless while still tight and beautiful to look at IMHO is not waterproof. Water resistant maybe but that’s where it stops. Beauty always comes at a cost…

The CNQG brass light managed to stay waterproof with a metal switch, and it’s really compact, but it used a totally different method. I’ve never seen it used elsewhere in any way which actually worked. It’s basically a metal cover for a rubber boot.

BLF ti has a rubber boot under the metal cap too.

But it also has threads on the inside so water can leak through the spiral gap. The CNQG brass lights have threads on the outside, and pressure holding the boot against the inside wall, so this isn’t an issue.

The BLF Ti could probably be made waterproof by adding teflon tape inside, but this might interfere with getting power through the body.

In any case, the S2+ metal switch isn’t waterproof. But I like it enough that my red one is one of my favorite lights anyway. I don’t have the head waterproofed either; it has an optic directly pressed to the metal with no o-ring or glass. I’d add those, but the triple spacer I’m using doesn’t leave room.

Triple spacer for the S2+ is at

  Awesome!
Thank you Richard for such wonderful products at oh so reasonable prices and thank you for the info Hank! Then again… dang it Hank… now I feel I have to turn mine into a triple… wife, family and friends already think I’m nuts. :money_mouth_face:

Seriously… this forum is trouble… but I LOVE it!

It’s wasn’t me that needed a triple I swear!

It was some guy with a moustache… and a big hat… :face_with_monocle:

I’d really like to see these in the 18350 versions!

Hi, do protected batteries fit in this light easily?

Would anyone be willing to take pictures of the metal tail button disassembled?

Sure. The outer metal button piece screws into the red aluminum tailcap. It’s very very tight, but doesn’t appear to be sealed. The inner metal button piece has a rubber skirt which rests against the inside of the red part of the metal, but without any force. It mostly seems to give the button a springy feel, but also provides a bit of water resistance. No other switch pieces have any significant effect on waterproofing.

I expect it would stand up to splashes or rain with no issue, but being underwater would allow water to leak in fairly easily. There is only a little rubber-to-metal surface area blocking water, and it’s not held by any meaningful force. But it looks and feels very nice.

Thanks ToyKeeper.
Looks like it could be modified to be waterproof fairly easily. Just need a thin sheet of silicone sandwiched between the white(?) button washer and the face of the tail. I have a laptop keyboard protector silicone sheet that is even thinner then it would need to be but it’s still surprisingly strong. I’d round the edges of the white clicky actuator a bit. A gasket designed for the switch would be better though.

The washer/spacer is aluminum. It looks like it was punched from ~2 mm aluminum sheet stock.

The infamous fake ones have regular hardware store steel washers. These seem to be always corroded. Not sure if they were installed like that, or if it was caused by water infiltration, or solder flux from the switch PCB.

Ordered mine with the BLF note, and it shipped next day, I have no idea if the value charged will be reduced at all, not concerned either way

Mine is marked as shipped now, but Simon did reply stating that I can request a refund after receiving the light.

Ordered a blue and a red host from Simon…

Note: This has also been added to the OP with links.

Blue S2+ host is now available! Note: There is a minimum quantity of 2 just like the red host. If you only want 1 you could try sending Simon a message or (for US customers) you will also be able to get the Blue S2+ flashlight and host with no minimum quantity from Mountain Electronics. They don’t have them in stock yet but Richard told me they have both the lights and hosts on the way. That’s one other source where you can be certain you are getting genuine Convoy products.

Free upgraded shipping option
When ordering through Aliexpress the standard free shipping option is China post which can be slow. Simon is giving us another bonus. He will throw in free ePacket shipping. In my case the charge for a single light adding ePacket shipping is $3.85.
Simon says “choose China post air mail in the Aliexpress system, but note “ePacket“ under your order along with the “from BLF” note and he will upgrade the shipping for you at no additional charge.

Oooh… Might have to get a host from Simon. Do we have to email to order a single host instead of the usual 2 pack?

Is this ePacket available to Europe or only for the US?

I PMd him so instead of 2 blue I got one of each color.

PM on BLF?
