I've been doing almost the same thing for some time now except with a neck lanyard. Tucks inside my shirt when I don't need it and will never fall off. I hook my UF-H2 from it and the light shines forward instead of at my feet. It's the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night.
Just went and took a picture of my Type 1 cord neck lanyard on my BLF Tank . It is connected with a larkshead and features double fisherman's knots so that the length is adjustable .
That's the stuff right there, Jack! I keep a sliding knot on mine where it connects to the flashlight on mine. It keeps the light centered on the cord and the knot on the cord from rotating around on my neck (a pet peeve) and if I take it off to use by hand the sliding knot lets me adjust it for my wrist so it does double duty.
My Hugsby clips next to an SRM 909 for EDC. I can’t carry in the bottom of the pocket either. So many nice small lights I couldn’t buy because of no clip.
I have some strong nylon line (string) from diving (called cave line). It comes on a spool. I cut off a piece and tied a knot to form a loop and then used a match to seal the ends.
In the past I would just run the loop through the end ring of my ITP A3 (making a hitch). Now that I have the small spring loaded clip I posted about in another thread (from Photon) I just clip it to the loop.
I wear this necklace style under my shirt. It's not an EDC thing for me but if I'm out at night and don't want to carry anything else I'll usually slip it on.
I rarely use my lanyards as a "mounting device" and I wish that all lights+knives came with detachable clips. Lanyard holes and detachable clips should be mandatory on everything. ;-)
My original point in this thread was ....if the short 6 inch piece of braided paracord has approx. the same weight as a small light then just that tucked in your collar will hold the light and keep it from falling out or needing to be clipped . (works too well)
I really like tight clips, its part of my requirement when buying a light.
Because honestly without a clip or a lanyard attached somehow the light will just fall out of my pocket and get lost. Even my wallet fell out once, I should attach that with a chain or discreet cord to my belt.
It sounds stupid until you lose your wallet with all your cards and license and cash...or light, or expensive knife, etc...
