Has anyone else had a chance to check one of their S3 3C’s? One guy had all of them show up DOA, and I want to be proactive in case there’s an issue with them getting damaged in shipping.

Would you be willing to sell these dedomed and reflowed for an extra fee? The results in the other thread look interesting if you can repeat them reliably.

I don’t know if I have a reliable way to ship them after dedoming, the phosphor is extremely fragile to being touched and I’d hate to have them get there and not be in good shape. I’ll give it some thought on how I might be able to ship them safely.

What’s the cri on these? Can you ship to Canada?

I can’t wait until mine arrive. Got a Blue Convoy S2+ host waiting.

I would also be interested in 4 219c’s if you are willing to ship to Canada.

Hey Henry, got mine yesterday, in perfect working condition, like the way they were packaged, great idea! Very resourceful!!! Thanks!!!

For the people asking about shipping to Canada, I’m willing to do that, but I need to check and see how much more shipping is to Canada. As long as it’s close I’ll ship for no additional cost.

And they’re 83CRI.

I got mine yesterday as well. I didn’t test tbem, but they look fine.

Thanks.

Good deal. If anyone does find that they have a dead emitter please let me know. So far it’s looking like an isolated incident.

I now have 3 of these emitters, but I haven’t fired up any yet. I really need to test one to see if I should order more.

Sounds like someone is getting their mail X-ray’ed…. Tell them to quit looking up our former Presidents definition of what IS,IS…. Commas are important if you do not want your mail “checked” LOL…

Who knows, in some places that you ship your mail to your work address, they actually do use scanners to check it…

I was unaware that x-rays could damage LED’s, does anyone want to explain to me why? The same theory was posed by the person that got them, and was the first time I’d ever heard of it.

I can not understand how xrays in the doses used in scanners can damage leds either, it must be a myth.

40 of the Nichia NVSW219C emitters left. I’ve been reflowing them onto 16mm Noctigon’s for $2.50 each. I have 5 boards left right now that I can reflow onto, so if reflowing is the only thing stopping you from trying one of these you can ask for them reflowed until I run out of boards. I’ll be ordering more boards once they become available again at Mountain Electronics.

I have no idea if that was what did it, but I do know some areas have ALL their mail X-rayed…

So an unprotected LED as a semiconductor could get damaged, like I said, not that this was what happened here. The other thing is that they generally do not use the lower dose “medical” type X-ray machines for mail… so different amount of radiation…

Please do not stone me for saying a layer of aluminum foil could act as a faraday cage for protection… Yes, wrapping your LED’s in foil is paranoid… Not recommending it, just stating it…
