Well, the seller has refunded me. He did not seem surprised when I told him he was selling fakes. He didn’t deny either.
So now, let’s buy the real one ! Thanks for the aliexpress link above, but thet don’t take Paypal :frowning: So if anyone has a trusted seller who sells the genuine one on ebay, I’d love it please :slight_smile:

That was definitely a fake. its to shiny (looks more like paint than a smooth satin Anodizing) and it looks “rough” compared to the real Hugsby’s i have.

Tomtop on e-bay is where I ended up getting my real ones thanks to this site. The 2 fakes I received from a seller on Ali have terrible output compared to the real deal. One nice thing about the fakes is that the clip works perfect on the real ones for ball cap headlight duty!!! :slight_smile:

When I saw it a couple weeks ago I’m sure it had the hugsby logo on it. I’m guessing since the logo has been removed it’s likely a copy.

Apparently the fakes have a smooth reflector, not the textured orange peel reflector.

Based on the descriptions (reflector, switch and clip) I got a genuine Hugsby XP-1 from what appears to be TomTop on AE:

Never buy unbranded items from tinydeal, i bought their sipik style unbranded lights from them and all use fake leds.

I made the mistake of ordering two Hugsby XP-1s and one Hugsby XP-2 from aliexpress.

All 3 of the lights are fakes. Shiny anodizing, they feel really cheap, very low output, shiny rubber button on the back, and smooth reflector. Has any one had any luck getting their money back from AliExpress or am I screwed here? I wish I would have found this thread before I ordered.

I didn’t have any luck getting a refund from a seller on Ali although I didn’t try very hard. Sent an e-mail telling them I wanted a refund for 2 fake XP1’s and got a great reply: “These are the new improved Hugsby XP1’s!!!” :slight_smile:

Yes there is an “open a dispute” button. I’ll do that today and supply pictures showing the fake “features” on the lights that I received. I’m not expecting a lot of cooperation out of AliExpress, I was hoping maybe they had a rep that posted here that could help me.

Lesson learned for me. I will check here first before buying from these shady Chinese sites. Thankfully it isn’t a lot of money but it’s still disappointing when I could have had a real Hugsby for just a few dollars more.
