Where to get silicone thermal glue?

Is DX the cheapest way to get silicone thermal glue?

I found THIS but I don't need that much glue. Are smaller quantities available somewhere? (cheaper of course)

I had the same problem and just bought the big tube. It's a lifetime supply.

You could pay that for a couple of grams of a thermal epoxy - or you can mix your own using heatsink goo with as much of the silicone oil removed as possible - ideally wash it with acetone and filter out the white stuff which you then mix with the cheapest epoxy you can find. Maybe a little less good than the real stuff but a lot better than nothing.

FUJIK Silicone Thermal Glue is what I use. It has the consistency and qualities of silicon adhesive. It works very well for flashlights, dries completely, provides cushioning for components and can be trimmed with a razor blade when dry or removed completely. If you use it for potting drivers, it can be difficult to remove later so use it sparingly. Also use it to attach LED to the heat sink and transfers heat from the star. Great stuff for the price and you get a HUGE tube.

I also use Fujik, but this may be worth to use...

Fujik is worth the money, but do the opposite of what Flashpilot says.

if you use too much it will come off easier later. use a small amount, and ull damage the led board getting the damn thing off. trust me struggled all day with a q5 fix, then ended up bending the damn pill!!!!

Thats exactly what you are NOT supposed to do. You are supposed to put it on as thinly as possible for the best thermal transfer. If you cant get a star or other part lose after gluing, use a jewelers screwdriver and dental pick to pry it out. Works for me every time. The only time I use lots of thermal goop is to help isolate a driver to further protect the components for when I drop the light. For the most part, a thick layer of the stuff will insulate and keep heat in... not let it out.

well i def didnt have a problem with the heat transfer. that flashlight got warm quick, and after 15 mins was super hot to the touch

but hey, it depends on the ability of the goop to transfer heat

Should do the trick.

If thats what i think it is, it'll be next to impossible to remove something stuck by it if you decide to take it apart later. I think it dries as hard as concrete. Anyone use this stuff?

Before buying Fujik, I've also used thermal paste for Personal Computers in the center of the led base and cianoacrylate at the fine edges of the base. Did their job well and you can always drop with a screwdriver and a thud on the edge of the base.

So the bottom line is that I'm ordering a 50 ml tube FUJIK Silicone Thermal Glue when I only need like 5 ml. What a waste. It's more like a "for 3 lifetimes" supply.

Thats the common complaint but at least you'll never run out. When you start modding, you'll use a lot more than you would think after swapping LED's around several times. Mod your friends lights too, and they will pay for beer and pizza! Tongue out Have fun! Im down to half a tube and Ive only had it a year.

yea, believe it or not i thought the same thing about waste

its been sitting at my desk for 2 years now, and i always find uses for it!!!

tho i like the thermal compounds better!

Hey I just bought this from Gooluckbuy for $2.94

85g

DX has been ridiculously slow lately , but that is were I get Fujik and I am on my second tube in less than a year. It doesn't like to be frozen so if you get an emitter you want get off with Fujik under it freeze it before you pry and it will pop off. I use a lot potting P-60 pills they transfer heat much better if you pack them full.

Order the Stars-922 as suggested by Flexakamal (spelled that wrong).

You can find it for $1.37 at budget gadgets.

The Fuji-K no matter how careful you are the threads get all plugged up and then it won't seal right and you have to use a pick to try and clear the opening and its a big pita.

GoodLuckbuy has changed the description to thermal Paste.

How do I prove that the have changed the description?
