Blue S2+ flashlight, for guys, for your bro!

I received my hosts in both colors and they’re flawless! Much better than any 18650 tube light including the EE A6. Ordered directly from Simon, sent him a screenshot of my cart and paid via PP.

I wanted to do something special with them, one is surely going to get a triple nichia 219C build but I’m not sure about the other. I was thinking triple XP-L HI DD but that’s overkill for this light, not even my copper sinner can handle it more than 30 second. So probably I’m going with single XPL HI and a deep 20mm reflector from the old convoy S2.

Do you keep the S2+ pill?
No concern for squeezing the cell too much?

EDIT: Just tried it, not enough thread on the head to keep the S2+ pill.

It’s also possible they may have simply sent you the wrong emitter.

I had that happen recently. I ordered a DQG Fairy in 4C tint from Banggood, and what I received is the 1A tint version. In this case I don’t really mind though, since I was on the fence to begin with and I really don’t like anything warmer than 4500K or so. I find the blue tint less obnoxious than a too-warm tint, and there wasn’t an option to get a tint I really like. This thing really should come with a Nichia 219B in it instead of XP-G2.

So in my case who is sending the wrong tint ? I tried to look at other people beamshot but without a white balance reference it is hard to tell.

If your photo was taken with a 5200K white balance, that C8 is definitely not a 4C.

I have two blue S2+ directly from Simon and they are basically flawless. I ordered them both *4 with 4C tint and they are excellent and I see no noticeable difference. I can’t say what happened with other suppliers but I always order directly from Simon to avoid mix-ups.

Guess what’s just around the corner? Just got the email from Simon with this picture…

Crap! Looks like another order from Simon in my future.

Me too! I don’t even have any 18350s yet but I’m going to order some ASAP from RMM so that I have them ready when my shorty tubes get here. The new L2 is also just around the corner. Simon said he’s just working out the details with the gift box (probably similar to the S2+ box) and then the L2 will be in the store too. I need more time to make more money to buy more flashlights… Wow… that’s twisted. At least I’m here among a bunch of like-minded freaks! H)

So how long are we talking for the color 18350’s? A week? 3 weeks? less?

awesome! Any clips?

Now ain’t that just the pertiest sight that y’all have ever seen?

Woo Hoo!

Nice!! So what to bug Simon about next? OD Green or Tan S2+?

If you’re looking for 18350s I personally recommend the purple efest, I’m getting 6.7A in a triple XP-L setup with Fet+1 driver… Only 2 amps short of the 25R.

Never seen a tint that color, that orange warm really, I’m going to say its the camera/picture/monitor distorting it? C8 looks like something in the 5A range in the picture too. Its really hard to show someone color of a beam. I’d guess you got a T4-7C by description, just because its a warmer option that he offers, if your colors are very off as I’ve said. If they are on target…no idea…

I bought a Blue S2+ XM-L2 T6 4C 8x7135 flashlight. Beamshot:

S2+ 4C (High) on the left, BLF A6 3D (High 2) on the right

I’d charactize my S2+ beam as slightly more “golden” than “yellow”. Really, it is my favorite beam out of my collection of mostly cool-tinted flashlights.

Wow! Just wow!
Will be in the next order on they are available, to fit these:

What an awesome time to be a flashaholic!

Not yet but I asked him about them when I replied to his email with the pictures. The last he told me about that was trying to work out the details to have them manufactured properly.

> how to get them manufactured properly

Does he know about the short tubes people are trying to get made for the EE A6 and X6? Those, I think, should have the same threads and be legoable. Once they get them right.

> what to bug Simon about next?
Harder color coating. Not complaining, I knew these aren’t getting real hard anodizing, and am not surprised that my frequently carried red S2+ has started to lose the red coating at wear points after a few months. But I’m curious if a harder color surface would be possible.

I’ve read that Both Type II and Type III “hard” anodizing are very hard …. Type III … a little harder than Type II, but you need special equipment to tell the difference in practical terms. Type III, however, is much thicker than Type II ….

… Type II anodizing can be dyed a variety of colors
. This is the illustration from that page:

Thicker type II anodizing might be possible. Type III in bright colors is not.
