Blue S2+ flashlight, for guys, for your bro!

Now ain’t that just the pertiest sight that y’all have ever seen?

Woo Hoo!

Nice!! So what to bug Simon about next? OD Green or Tan S2+?

If you’re looking for 18350s I personally recommend the purple efest, I’m getting 6.7A in a triple XP-L setup with Fet+1 driver… Only 2 amps short of the 25R.

Never seen a tint that color, that orange warm really, I’m going to say its the camera/picture/monitor distorting it? C8 looks like something in the 5A range in the picture too. Its really hard to show someone color of a beam. I’d guess you got a T4-7C by description, just because its a warmer option that he offers, if your colors are very off as I’ve said. If they are on target…no idea…

I bought a Blue S2+ XM-L2 T6 4C 8x7135 flashlight. Beamshot:

S2+ 4C (High) on the left, BLF A6 3D (High 2) on the right

I’d charactize my S2+ beam as slightly more “golden” than “yellow”. Really, it is my favorite beam out of my collection of mostly cool-tinted flashlights.

Wow! Just wow!
Will be in the next order on they are available, to fit these:

What an awesome time to be a flashaholic!

Not yet but I asked him about them when I replied to his email with the pictures. The last he told me about that was trying to work out the details to have them manufactured properly.

> how to get them manufactured properly

Does he know about the short tubes people are trying to get made for the EE A6 and X6? Those, I think, should have the same threads and be legoable. Once they get them right.

Harder color coating. Not complaining, I knew these aren’t getting real hard anodizing, and am not surprised that my frequently carried red S2+ has started to lose the red coating at wear points after a few months. But I’m curious if a harder color surface would be possible.

I’ve read that Both Type II and Type III “hard” anodizing are very hard …. Type III … a little harder than Type II, but you need special equipment to tell the difference in practical terms. Type III, however, is much thicker than Type II ….

… Type II anodizing can be dyed a variety of colors
. This is the illustration from that page:

Thicker type II anodizing might be possible. Type III in bright colors is not.

I believe Simon said it was type II but I’d have to confirm. I do remember him saying the type III (as Halo pointed out) made the colors too dark and they were having problems getting color consistency between the body and the tail with type III. I don’t have a date yet from Simon and when the short tubes will be available for sale but I’ll pass it along when I have it.

I was so pleased with my first Blue Convoy S2+ with a 4C tint bin and driven by 7135*8 (2800mA), that I decided to pick up a second. I contacted Simon via AliExpress PM and asked him if the 15% sales deal with free ePacket shipping was still on. He said yes, the deal is still on!

I placed my second order just now. This time, I went with the stock drivers (1050mA). I figure I should get about half the lumen output. I’m willing to sacrifice the higher highs in order to get lower lows. And I’m praying that the tint comes out the same as my first Blue S2+.

BTW, the fit and finish details on my first Blue S2+ were great, absolutely perfect to my eye.

Yeah Simon takes good care of us with deals. I’m with you 100% on the 4C tint. Love the way the colors pop at night with that golden glow. I thought it might be too warm but I have two now directly from Simon and I’m definitely a fan.

Anyone here successfully tried ordering a custom light with specs similar or near the following?

1x7135 chip
4C tint
moonlight mode (<= 1lumen)
30% medium and
100% high

TIA.

Moonlight mode (<= 1lumen) would require modified firmware. As far as I’m aware Simon does not do custom firmware.

Thanks for the info Halo.
How about just 1x7135, 4C and 5%low, 30%med and 100% high? Would you know approx how many lumens will these settings provide? Might be near enough to what I want.

Never tried one with 1 x 7135 myself. I read in your other thread that you have a 3 x 7135 version. The low for 1 x 7135 should just be around 1/3 of the low on your 3 x 7135 version.

You can order one of these from RMM with Guppydrv flashed on it. Then select mode 17.

Yes, my grey S2 has 3x7135 chips with a 10%low, 40%med and 100@high settings. If I follow you correctly, the 5%low on 1x7135 would be 1/6(?) of the low in my grey s2? If so, then that’s quality light with very looooong runtime. And I would definitely place my order.

BTW, sent Simon a PM in his AE store regarding this query.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Can I order just a 1x7135 chip version? My goal is to have an 18650-based EDC that will have a low low mode and very long runtime.

I’m not sure if Simon will do that, but you could ask.

You could also order a driver from RMM with whatever specs you want. For example, his FET+7135 driver provides the low low and long runtime, but it also gives the benefits of really high high modes. Or you could ask him for a 1x7135 with STAR and custom levels. Or whatever.
