Blue S2+ flashlight, for guys, for your bro!

Originally he wanted to redo the design of the flashlight to better accomodate a clip but I asked him to make it work with the existing design because so many of us already have these lights. So yes, it should fit in the exisisting grooves.

You guys are killing me. I can’t resist this, especially the steel switch. So this is type 2 anodizing right? I have messaged/mailed Simon at his store and await his response. IT was never planning on getting these, but they are just too cool, especially with the 18350 tubes.

If the anodizing is weak, I’ll just strip it and go bare!

I hadn’t either to be honest as red just wasn’t my thing. Then I thought, while yes, my wife makes fun of me a bit for my flashlight obsession she should have a good reliable light so I ordered the red one for her. Even she, now admits she loves it. The red, once seen in person is really impressive. It has a subtle metallic sheen that makes it even more jewel-like. It’s been bouncing around her purse for months with keys and other miscellaneous items. I just asked her to show it to me again so I could inspect it. On one edge of the tail I can see just a hint of bare metal showing through. Is it military grade? No… but it is pretty darn tough. Let me know what Simons says about whether or not it is type II. I hit him with way too many questions as it is so I try to avoid repeats. I now have a blue for myself and one for my son and I’ll have a green one as soon as it’s available. I also have blue and red short tubes on the way and I CAN’T WAIT for the new clip! Simon is really on a roll. These last several months he must be working 20 hours a a day.

I see now, tube is just reversed. Does I turn on both ways? Practically a must for tube lights since they make the best cap lights.

Done. Ordered 2 blues (minimum order). Changed to 1 blue and 1 red by PM. Confirmed by Simon!

Can you convince Simon to do a bare run like the bare A6?

I’ve received the shipment notification for my order of 1 red and 1 blue short tubes.
Thumbs up to Simon

Somehow I didn’t even think about that even though I jumped all over the bare A6. Nice suggestion. I will ask. Simon is on fire and there is no sign of him slowing down anytime soon. The deep carry clip I proposed… well, he liked the idea, we went back and forth a bit working out the details and here it is! Yeah, it’s just a CAD model right now but he’s making it. I’ll post more details soon but this will fit both the shorty and the standard S2. I can’t wait to have this on my blue S2 shorty!!!

Nothing? A full day and not a single comment? Even “I think it’s ugly” would be something. :~ Man this a tough crowd. :weary:

I’d like it to be deeper carry!
You asked. :ghost:

I love it!

Perhaps the clip needs its own thread?

The clip is very good. But the clip onto the flashlight itself is a little small. I know its because of the design and for owners of this model but I hope if will be tight enough.

Have to agree. A deep carry convoy pocket clip that fits existing convoys? Hard to believe people aren’t interested. Rather they just aren’t seeing it in these threads.

Oh hey J-Dub, could you give some measurements? I’d like the see if it would fit other lights, like the Roche F6, now convoy F6. Width of the arms that hold onto the light, distance the clip extends from those arms toward the tail and front of the light. Also the standoff height / clearance of the clip over the tailcap.

Maybe Simon could even try a prototype of the F6 and other convoy lights.

Agreed, I think that’s the reason why there isn’t more feedback…because other don’t know we are talking about a clip for the S2+.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I probably should start a new thread for it. I too think the clip mounting ring is a little thin (2.2mm to be exact) but as mentioned this was to make it work for all the people who already own the S2+. I was waiting to start a new thread until there is a working sample but I guess I could do that now. As far as making it deeper carry I helped and am also to blame there. It’s about 1/4” deeper that the first concept but I thought it would be nice if it didn’t interfere with the finger grooves in the tail. I updated my thought later and told Simon it should be as deep as possible without interfering with tailstanding but I think he was happy with it at that point. If you want complete concealment you could mount it one groove back but then it would stick out probably near 1/4” past the tail. I’m more concerned right now with seeing how the mounting holds up. If it’s too weak then it’s back to the drawing board.

While he is on fire, could you please ask him to make S2+ or other model (except S7) or new design with shorter reflector, about same height with carclo 10507 or similar. It will be easier to change it become triple. Other option ask him to make it with triple led instead.

It would be pretty awesome if Convoys came already sized for a triple with no spacer.

A deep clip would be nice too, though I prefer the screw-on type so it won’t rotate and scratch the body… or the thread-in type so it can’t be pulled off (like the SF L2 clip). As far as wrap-around clips go, this one looks pretty good, and I’ve recently gotten more okay with this type of clip. I’m just worried about the thin-ness of the arms.

A second pair of arms to grip the groove nearest the end could add some strength, although it would remove the ability to use the clip in different configurations.

I prefer a wire pocket clip, I find they don’t snag on or scratch objects as much as a solid clip, but I’m not sure if it would be strong enough screwed on to the lanyard holes.

I’ve expressed our “group concern” to Simon about the skinny arms and his reply was basically that he’s using good strong stainless and he thinks it not going be a problem. He also said he would try to make it a little deeper but he doesn’t want to push it right to the edge because bent metal manufacturing isn’t always as exact as he would like “dimensionally speaking” and if they are off just a little you have a light that can no longer tailstand. I couldn’t argue much with that. At this point I just want to see a sample mounted on a light and see how it looks and holds up before making more design suggestions. He couldn’t give me a production time yet but said he would let me know soon.
