Blue S2+ flashlight, for guys, for your bro!

It would be pretty awesome if Convoys came already sized for a triple with no spacer.

A deep clip would be nice too, though I prefer the screw-on type so it won’t rotate and scratch the body… or the thread-in type so it can’t be pulled off (like the SF L2 clip). As far as wrap-around clips go, this one looks pretty good, and I’ve recently gotten more okay with this type of clip. I’m just worried about the thin-ness of the arms.

A second pair of arms to grip the groove nearest the end could add some strength, although it would remove the ability to use the clip in different configurations.

I prefer a wire pocket clip, I find they don’t snag on or scratch objects as much as a solid clip, but I’m not sure if it would be strong enough screwed on to the lanyard holes.

I’ve expressed our “group concern” to Simon about the skinny arms and his reply was basically that he’s using good strong stainless and he thinks it not going be a problem. He also said he would try to make it a little deeper but he doesn’t want to push it right to the edge because bent metal manufacturing isn’t always as exact as he would like “dimensionally speaking” and if they are off just a little you have a light that can no longer tailstand. I couldn’t argue much with that. At this point I just want to see a sample mounted on a light and see how it looks and holds up before making more design suggestions. He couldn’t give me a production time yet but said he would let me know soon.

I agree with toykeeper. Slowly warming to clamp on clips and a little worried about the skinny arms.

The Convoy S2+ i received today in blue is really nice and i have to say im impressed because of the finish and quality of the light, it feels great in the hand for a budget light. Now we need more colors like orange, sand etc… The only slight con about the light is probably the non coated lens but ok its a budget light. I have to say the 3B tint is really nice, actually better than any olight or other premium lights i have.

If they are going to require us to buy two 18350 pieces at a time, it’d be nice to have a mixed red/blue pack since most of us don’t have two of the same color.

If you make a note on the order I believe he will change it (I think this was stated earlier in the thread).

I’m waiting till green is released to pick up a set of RGB shorts.

I wrote a message to Simon that I want a mix of red and blue when I submitted my order recently and he replied he will do that.
My short tubes are in the mail and hope to receive them by next week.

I’m not sure minimum order quantity actually means anything. Simon didn’t have any problems with my order containing red S2+, one 18350 tube, stainless clip, difuser, couple of
GITD o-rings and tailcap boot (for A6). And on top of everything I got ~15% discount for being BLF member. Simon is really great guy.

Clip wings do look skinny, but I think it’s only cosmetic issue (being not proportional to the rest of the clip). With tight grooves there is only so much that can be done without host redesign.
Plus real product almost always looks better than digital model or render. As long as light can be clipped on pocket without looking and using both hands (really frustrating on A6), it’s fine.

I wish Simon would make tripple compatible pill or completely redesign host while taking everything BLF finds wrong with S2+ in consideration. It’s probably his most successful product, far more popular than L4 that got redesigned recently.

I hope my blue one is a real one but it feels really good. Has the polished metal button, not the more dull greyish metal button of the fakes. The green Board in the head says N A N J G

Yes indeed Simon has no problem doing one of each color. I just got one red and one blue short tube today. They are perfectly machined as you should expect from Convoy. I tried each. Perfect fit and it makes a nice stubby little light. Now if we could only get that deep carry clip made faster! That IMO will put the S2+ short in a league of it’s own in the budget world and make an awesome pocket light.

I haven’t heard of any blue S2+ fakes…yet. Almost certainly real. Where did you order from?

simon forgot to add additional 2 tubes on my order. :frowning:
also i only got 12% discount but its ok maybe next time it will be 15%.

Banggood, it looks definately quality with that SS button. One minor imperfection in the anodizing. That 3B Tint is very pleasing to the eye, i would even prefer a less yellow version. The 3B tint is the one with the least amount of yellow in that list but for a true NW i would even say its to yellow but i have several NW flashlights and they are all a bit yellow.

Sounds like you want a 2D or 2A tint, then?

Its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

im not a tint expert, so those numbers are like chinese to me : p The only thing i know is i like real neutral white tints. The 3B is nice and its the best NW option you can get for the convoy S2+ the other options are all either to cool or to warm. But even the 3B is a bit to warm for me as you can see.

Buy a Convoy host and put a XP-L V6 3D in it. You wont regret it. If you insist on using a XM-L2, the 3A tint is nice too.

That looks way too yellow to be 3B.

You don’t need to be a tint expert… just use the chart. Technically, 3B (5200K) is a hair colder than the cool edge of “neutral white” (3700K to 5000K). If it’s too warm for you, you’re probably wanting something in the middle of the “cool white” range (5000K to 6500K). You’d probably like a 2A or 2D:
