Copper Olight S1

I think you’d be buying those 16340s…

Yup, that thing is tiny… Had to ask though, thanks for the pic…

Welcome. It’s really a great little light and the copper will be awesome I’m sure, but I really hope it’s not blue pvd…

Another reason for my vote on the unfinished copper

Antibacterial if unfinished, plus the patina can look so worn in without any actual wear….

Of course coated will look shiny for a long time, each has their own virtue…

For me it depends on the coating. If it's clear lacquer then forget about it, I'll take the uncoated. I'm a patina fan more than anything so safest bet is uncoated.

I saw on another forum where Marshall at GoingGear said they were PVD coated. I don’t know exactly how that works, but some googling around informed me that normally PVD coating copper requires that it be chrome plated first, then PVD coated using a copper colored dye. That’s kind of cheating, if you ask me, so I wouldn’t be very I interested in that either.

Good thing I’m a big fan of raw copper, patina and all.

Uncoated all the way! One of the main reasons I like copper light is because the natural properties of it… The platina, the smell and the feel.

A coating would be like preserving it in vacuum

Final Design. Polished rose gold and RAW copper. Wish they have changed the soft button.

So it looks like they’re going with a rose gold PVD-coated copper with stainless bezel or raw copper with blue-PVD bezel. Those would not have been my choices, but I do appreciate them offering some special pieces.

Aw, I wish they did raw copper with stainless bezel.

I wish the bezel were Titanium, anodized blue with some purple splashes or dots on it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just got a Ti S1 today, they say the cell is an CR123 or RCR123, is that the same thing as a 16340? Quite small, for sure. Very neat little light, the Ti version has what appears to be a gold PVD bezel, looks very nice, even the packaging is pretty elitist.

I’ve also got a Ti S1, very nice lights. They call those bezels “rose gold pvd” so its probably the same treatment as the whole body of that copper/stainless S1 above. Definitely looks more like just plain gold than rose gold or copper though.

Yes the RCR123 and 16340 are interchangeable. I think they may technically be difference chemistries, but electrically they’re identical.

Thanks, I don’t have any CR123 lights but I do have ONE 16340, the little SS bullet light from CNQG. Maybe I can bore this little guy out and fit an 26700 in there… :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Oh Yeah! Big thing here people, they got the battery in BACKWARDS! The positive end goes to the tail cap, that’s gonna mess me up for sure!

Well I’m sure you’ll do something awesome with it

Yeah I’m not sure what’s up with the battery orientation in recent Olights but they seem to be moving in that direction. I got an S2 last week that’s also oriented backwards. Idk…

Would it look totally freak if I made a 26650 copper battery tube for it and threaded that on in place of the tail cap? hahahahahahaha

Yes. Do it!

Not as much as the 4 x 18350 one… You know, for stability when tailstanding…

The raw copper with stainless bezels is being launched as a goinggear exclusive. That means you’ll have to pay way more.

I am loving the unrefined industrial look of this little light! Any negatives so far? Also, I have never had a magnetic light in the past, has anyone had any issues with the magnet in their pocket? Credit cards and what not.

Any info or insight is always appreciated! Thanks in advance!
