[Review] ULTRATAC K18 (XP-G2 S2, 1x AAA / 1x 10440)

Very nice! I wanna know how it performs against the d25aaa on runtime, throw and preference…

Awesome review. One of the most comprehensive AAA reviews I have read. Thank you for doing this for all of us!

Great review!

I got mine friday from HKE and was impressed when i took it out of the box for a quick play

will take a bit to make my own review - but you set the bar very high…

Very nice, I'm really tempted to buy this one, I just need the information on how easy an emitter swap is. Since I do not want it on my keychain, and it has a clip, the tailstanding is easily achieved by sanding the tail off to flat with the disc sander :-)

Opps, looks like you missed a nice one here!
Keep the good work on mate,
Regards!

Both runtime comparision charts & wallshots include D25AAA (XP-G2 version) references. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks to you for reading and also for the compliments.

You’ll love this tiny light. Once you’re done reviewing, please share a link here so we can follow yours too.
Regards!

Emitter swap looks like easy job:

Note the two holes in the brass pill around 12:30h & 6:30h. I haven’t unscrewed it, but I can tell from my experience that the stock emitter tint is very good. It’s cool white, but far from the greenish I’ve found in all my i3S.

Thanks for your reply!

Would be nice if the diffuser also fit over the tailcap for tailcap standing.

Good review, it would be perfect, if you could disassemble the light completely and check if the following statement is true

“Direct Thermal Patch (DTP) Copper MCPCB: Direct Thermal Path Copper MCPCB provide excellent heat dissipation to ensure the best light performance.”

Thanks for the review. Very comprehensive. I personally feel the AAA format is overcrowded and that the AA form factor does not get too much love from manufacturers. At $21.95, I feel its a hard sell with so many options available.

When I first saw it I was impressed by the AAA sideswitch design. But the runtime charts show how the K18 is really amazing, it is pitty it can’t tail stand.

Silly question, but how to they keep the switch cover pressed against the body to prevent water intake? Thanks for the review!!!

Very very good/quality review and very nice light!

Great review. Good info. Nice pic’s.

Thanks for all the hard work you did to create this top-notch review.

I generally do not purchase cool-white flashlights, but I still see a lot to like in this UltraTac model.

I missed this review somehow (maybe the “ultra…” put me off). Just shows you shouldn’t judge a flashlight by the name.

Thanks UPz for this - I understand a stainless steel version is also available, but I can’t find it anywhere.

I believe going gear and he equip both stock these.
I got mine in SS from hk

Does anyone know if this works with unprotected Li-mn 10440’s?

I have a couple that don’t seem to work with it.

Want to give this light a try, now some questions to you guys:

1. is the K18 working with efest 10440 (350 mAh) ? Has anybody tested this combination?

2. has the K18 some kind of overdischarge protection, if battery voltage sinks under 3V? (If not, how can i avoid damaging my battery?)

3. Has anybody found a lower price than 14,95 € ? (found here)
