Brinyte B158 mod thread

I’m glad everyone is liking it, and no one is having QC issues. It’s a real solid light, at a very nice price. Brinyte seems to be a good company and they were pleasant to work with.

I got mine today, I’m very impressed with it. Every time I’ve bought a zoomie, I’ve always regretted it (even the 1405). Maybe this will be the first I like. I buy aspherics for the throw, and I love how natural and proportional this looks when fully extended. It’s not end-heavy, and there’s no wobble fully extended. Excellent. Even just taking it out of the box, I can tell the lens is much better than my others as well.

Thanks for bringing this to light, mhanlen. (pun intended)

1405 is big and heavy 2x26650 but even shorter version 1504 is to fat and heavy :)

1503 is very good but with plenty of issues. Tweak here and there and you can get very nice flashlight for $. Lenses quality inconsistent. Hope they'll switch to acrylic ones like Brinyte.

There is no doubt B158 is better flashlight out of the box with better lenses.

I’ll be interested to see what the baby brother, B168 is like, when it arrives here.

They asked me to review it, but I declined as I’m too busy right now. I’m interested to see what it’s like, so make sure you post some specs/review.

Will do!

All the insides swapped directly into the tailcap of the B158 and worked perfectly of the linked remote switch from the 1504. Unfortunately they are out of stock. I've others on order which I'll report on when I receive them.

From the Fasttech pictures the B168 seems to have a very small lens for its head diameter, which would be wasteful.

Try that on your fet driven XPG2(or any other) mod. You will be unpleasantly surprised with massive light(lux) drop :)

It’s free, so I won’t complain.

Yes, this was discussed somewhere here earlier.

Still waiting for mine, plan is dedomed xpg-2 and LD-2 or BLF A6 driver, have all those things, need the flashlight now, tracking said it is send to destination country 5 days ago. Cant wait

This one would be my first good zoomie, i have ultrafire SK98 and im not impressed, it is used for indoor needs because it has no hotspot but other than that it haven’t seen much usage.

5 minutes mod to my B158.

Changed the led for a XP-L hi 16mm noctigon from intl-outdoor, removed the driver and connected the led directly from the contact plate for direct drive as i only needed max output.

I also removed the Klingon protrusions on the body with a lathe since i don’t intend to mount the B158 to anything, lost 26 grammes in the process and the light is much nicer to hold.

I contacted them also to remove that chunk to 30 mm and to made me 50 pcs of them but I got no response.

I don't find them as serious company any more.

Uniquefire here I come :)

Good luck with that!

They are far better company to deal with.

They just don't have that good lenses... Yet :)

And I really don't get small flashlight manufacturers like Brinyte... Someone wants to order OEM and ODM of B158 and they don't even response to mail?

Maybe 50 pcs is not a lot but they should consider that as a good start of business, and then maybe we could talk about larger moq.

So yes Brinyte your costumer service and your way of doing business sucks.

These are some great results to get over 300 kcd! So far it's KKW, djozz and l-a reporting on this. My B158 is still not here, bout 4 week from shipped. I'll give it another week or so, but thinking it's lost. It's rare to go over 4 weeks for me here in NY.

Could someone or all who got the de-domed XP-G2's over 300 kcd please post a tailcap amp reading? I don't see one anywhere, unless I missed it somehow. I assume djozz is doing a hot dedome, and l-a is doing a gas dedome, not sure bout KKW - probably hot dedome?

I'm very interested because I've been getting from 3.9A to just over 5A on S2 2B's - it seems to vary greatly, and I thought the S2 2B's did better than the S4 2B's, but maybe the S4 2B's put out the same or more light at lower amps?

I mean, I don’t agree but that’s my opinion. They’ve been very responsive to me, answering all of my questions… Getting the bare pills… Asking me for suggestions. They even sent me an email wishing me merry Christmas. What email address are you contacting?

Which leads me to wonder what any company requires for a custom order? Is 50 enough? They require quantities of 50 to get the price to $22.99. So I wonder what your willing to pay for custom machining work to the lights? My feeling would be that it’s going to be more than $30 per light to get custom work done. Have you contacted other companies about doing this?

I contacted them at customerservice@brinyte.com

Edit: It is not custom machining. I am not asking them to rework me old stock of B158 flashlights. I am asking them for small cosmetic change in new series they would made for me.

They are flashlight manufacturers with cnc machines and everything right? It is even easier and faster to made my version without that nasty and unnecessary chunk than their B158 chunk and unnecessary mount version.

I would not need mount/manufacturing process is easier and faster and whole light would be 30 gr. lighter. So price should go down with this process and not up.

So putting old stock lights on a machine to remove or modify them should make the price go down? Alright, I absolutely don’t agree with that but I’ll send you the email of the person I’ve been dealing with there. The email above is CCed on all the emails, but I’ve never received an email from that address. It is possible you’re being sent to a spam filter.

And considering you said they suck without having actually talked to anyone there, well…

I’ll just PM you the contact and hopefully you can get it sorted out. I however don’t expect the price to go down, for any sort of modification to existing stock of their flashlights. That’s like me asking for a custom engraving for free from a company, because they’re actually REMOVING metal.
