Fake Convoy S2+ from Gearbest COOL WHITE (uggggg) just received

Of course. It’s totally free and no need to give me credits. Information should be freely available to every flashaholic  Download and use the high res images from this link Login - Dropbox

1. I paid it $12.36
2. I thought those fake S2+ was something of the past.
3. I was ordering this for a friend and he was finding it expensive. This is the lowest I could go as a deal.

Great, thx!

He found $5 more to be too expensive?

Honestly, If it were me, I’d just have paid the difference or bought the dang thing for him. Especially if I was concerned about getting a legit product.

But to your point, I’d be inclined to try and have GearBest remedy this first before I filed a paypal dispute. Paypal is going to ask, maybe even require, that you try to work with the seller first anyhow.

Fake Convoy are junks with high failure rate. Get your refund and trash it.

I am new to the hobby and looking to build a collection. Posts like this are very helpful and reassert the importance of working with dealers who offer quality products and customer service. Thank you for sharing your experience.

@Mountainking - feel for ya.

Did you mod that light in the "real S2+"? In the pic, it's missing the driver retainer ring. I assumed you did something to it as it also has a bunch of solder on the pill.

I was going to test how long it can take mid mode before failing or test it on high mode…. _

This is what happened

I am currently waiting for a driver (BLF A6) from Banggood and will soon order a replacement led/PCB

+1. I’m currently looking at either a Convoy C8 or a XinTD C8, but now won’t be considering GearBest just to save a buck or two.

Ah yes I remember your post now. Sucks when that happens. They should redesign the insulator so it doesn't act like a guillotine.

It's not a big deal. I was just wondering since mine came with a retaining ring on the red s2+. The retaining ring makes it easy to change out the driver since you don't need to heat up the entire pill to solder it to the driver.

Simon has told me many times that his light is often counterfeited. The quickest tell tale sign is to look inside but as good as Simon is to us and considering he really is "the little guy" it is always worthwhile to directly from him - even if a couple/few dollars more.

Can’t go wrong with Simon or RMM. I’ve had good luck with FastTech Convoy C8’s so far but otherwise I tend to be wary of GB and BG etal; all it takes is one bad deal and you’ve lost what little you thought you were saving by buying from them.

Phil

Send GB a PM on this site and they will send you a real S2+. I went through the same thing back in August and they took good care of me.

Just did (for resending a real one). I hope they get this roght. The fake one’s spring is so poor I am sure it will ‘melt’ or suffer some kind of failure on medium setting (400—500 lumens)

Thanks all for posting. I figured it was only a matter of time. I agree with all the people who’ve said to buy either directly from Simon’s Ali store or from Richard at Mountain Electronics. Those are my go-to guys every time. I’m reporting all this to Simon. Gearbest should be cutoff IMHO but it’s not up to me.

+1 and don’t forget that Simon offers a 15% discount to BLF members on this light in his store.

I ordered one red and one blue Convoy S2+ from Gearbest on December 31, 2015 and received them both today.

Based upon your images above both are authentic.
