AstroLux A01 AAA Nichia 219B Review - Winner winner, chicken dinner. An excellent, Neutral tint High CRI LED keychain light!

If I had to suggest a color for the AstroLux A01, I would want the shade of blue in the Olight i3s blue and the MecArmy illumineX-4.

Olight i3S blue, amazon

Great review, a very nice light indeed. Can you measure what size the driver is? Diameter of both boards and height would be great.

Excellent review.
Will wait for the Groupbuy :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent review and a wonderful sounding light and modes, now let’s get them to let us have our bright, emergency rescue ORANGE colored ones.

This would make a great bright orange kit light, and a brightest high of more like 50 or 70 lumens instead of the ( I think overly extravagant)100, would be even better.

The hidden flashing mode is a cool thing to put in. Now that I have finally found purposes for the strobe, I like having it available, as long as it is hidden, hidden, hidden.

I’m glad I didn’t buy another dozen BLF-348s yet (it’s a long time til next Christmas, but plan ahead …)
This could be my gift flashlight for 2016 if buy-by-the-handful becomes affordable by next fall.

Looks great. I’d love blue. A lower max would be nice too.

Sounds excellent to me.
I’ve been resisting recent group buys, so I’m well primed for this one. I’m in for a few at least.

Good review. Let the group buy begin

Updated some pics in the OP, and put a comparison GIF at the end of the OP for beamshots…

Next time I have it out, I will. The driver is the “winged” type that needs the projections to make contact with the battery tube, so some filing or soldering of tabs will be in order for a driver swap. It seems to be about 13mm wide by about 8mm high, but I will get you hard numbers in a bit.

The only 219A’s I have are very warm white ~2700K so not a even comparison. The tint in the pictures on the OP is much warmer in the picture than in real time.

This max could be lower, but as it is with the tint, it seems pretty well balanced on runtime vs visual output. Thing is, it doesn’t nosedive after the rated time, you still have about half an hour of more light than medium before it gets down to medium level in drain while on high.

Thanks for the kind words, if there is anything else someone wants to know, ask away…

Two votes for Blue, Two votes for Bright Orange as of now…

Both good lights. Different strokes for different folks. Some may like the twisty and others the tailswitch. Buy both and your Xmas shopping will be done

I vote for copper! But there’s the Lumintop Tool and Maratac Copper … To be more realistic I would want it in blue  Let’s get a GB going! Nice review btw… I have 2 AAA lights at the moment, Eagletac D25aaa and a DQG AAA clicky… Both are great except for the tiny clicky on the DQG

WOW!

I am in

The BLF-348 is legendary

True but I do not see this being any different.

  • Multiple color options
  • Twisty switch
  • Key ring attachment
  • 3 modes for everybody

No reason in the world why this light cannot do 1000+ in a group buy.

Thanks for the review, under 10 bucks AAA light and with nichia looks like a good deal.

These look awesome, thanks for the review.

Personally I like a clicky with a clip better than a twisty with ring, but this still looks nice. Actually I asked about the driver size because I was considering swapping this driver into one of my 348’s, but I think it’s too big.

I agree though, this could be a top seller if the price was right.

I have now had time to read the review. Most excellent stuff. If we can get a good price on this on a GB, ill sure jump on this

PD - I also prefer the 348...when I am at work. That is because I like the clip and have an available shirt pocket for it. (BTW - For your little driver...try to get with Dale. I think he has something that can fit. I was going to do that until I ran out.)

On the other hand..the pocket clip does not matter for the vehicle or the house etc. Actually the tail attachment would probably be more useful because a lanyard can be attached or a metal ring which in turn could be attached to one of those HF carabiners.

As for Colors.....if everyone asked RemanG to to start an interest list to show that a color (or colors) is worthwhile I know that you guys will get them. There has just has to be enough serious interest to make it happen.

Depending on the final price, and coloring options, I’d take at least 2.
This could be a replacement for my current keychain light.
