Red S2+ flashlight ,for girls, for your lover

Folks, those who didnt notice it yet and it appears some of you havent, theres separate thread for blue S2+

I'm sorry. My PC is fine. That links to a Chinese forum, which usually requires to install an APP when you are on phone.

You can choose not to, but you will have little access to the threads. Such as no pic or smaller pic, or you can only read the 1st page of all the posts.

Edit: It is a branch of "baidu.com", the biggest search enegine in China.

Hey yeahā€¦ I seem to remember seeing that. Nice thread!

I received my original S2+ yesterday, if anyones interested, here are some comparison pictures, original is on right and on top:

Powder coated(?) switch on fake, steel switch on original

Lanyard loop holes are more o shaped on original

Centering ring visible on fake one, appears to be centered on original one

Side panels where the branding is located have more squared sides on original one, also, text is crisper and smaller on genuine one

Guts

Fake one comes in cold blue tint, genuine one comes in warm white.

Clone consumes 0.08-0.1A on low, 0.55-0.6A on medium and 1.02-1.2A on high, genuine one 0.11/0.83-0.89/2.18-2.23 respecitvely. Not sure why my DMM showed this data fluctuating though!

Oh and switch is more responsive on original one, it switches modes without almost any delay whatsoever, while on clone it takes visible delay when the light shuts off before next mode is being turned on.

Thats about it regarding this light!

Nice post. Thanks for the comparison shots and describing the differences. I know that wrong is wrong but cloning a light that is so budget friendly already really ticks me off. Simon isnā€™t making millions selling Convoy lights (though he deserves to IMO) so it seems extra wrong to steal from him. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing, thatā€™s some precious information! Iā€™ve had a look to the customer uploaded photos from GB and BG and they both seem the original one.

Hi,
is there any code still valid around?
I had one for GB (12,99 usd) and on for BG (from m4dm4x) but they are expiredā€¦ just wondering where is the cheapest place to buy, cause on the official shop on aliexpress itā€™s not so cheap (19,27 USD for the 8*7135 and 4C tint).

Gearbest just had another report of fake red S2+ being sold again so my advice would be to look elsewhere at any price. Iā€™m not sure what Banggood is offering. Simonā€™s Aliexpress store is always your safest bet with the most customization options, the fastest shipping and he still offers a 15% discount to BLF members.

Now you told me, I have checked more carefully all the customer pictures from GB websiteā€¦ and among all the original ones Iā€™ve spotted a fake one:

So I guess they are selling mostly genuine convoys but maybe they received a fake stock and a fake flashlight is sent every now and then.

Thank you, I didnā€™t know the 15% discount was still valid! (I found about it in a 1 year old post)

Happy to help steer you toward genuine Convoy goodness.
That is indeed one of the fakes and the pictures of the light you received look exactly like the fake red S2+ batch that Gearbest was selling before. Aside from the internals the most obvious difference is the silver painted button on the fake vs. the brushed stainless switch on the real deal. Gearbest was supposed to have gotten rid of the entire batch of fakes and said they would not sell them anymore. Iā€™m glad they didnā€™t give you any grief about replacing it while at the same time disgusted at hearing that they did it again. I truly hope that against all odds this is just a ā€œmistakeā€ but I really have a hard time believing it.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding: the picture I linked are not mine and not from a recent sell, i took them from a user posted comment on GB website dated Jul 04, 2015

I do realize that but the first pictures that you posted in your thread are of the light that you just recently received correct? The light that was ordered in December?

I think you are confusing me with another user, I havenā€™t ordered the S2+ yet :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL! Yesā€¦ I sure am. It was this guy :face_with_monocle:

Excellent post Veer. You already did the comparison. I was waiting for a new real convoy to post pics. I agree to all the observations you made!

PS: Maybe users above were confusing with this thread Fake Convoy S2+ from Gearbest COOL WHITE (uggggg) just received

Just received my red and green S2+ā€™s from RMM and the switches seem to be set deep enough in the metal flange to make activation difficult. Anyone open theirs up to address this?

Donā€™t have this problem, but these are as easy as the regular tail caps to disassemble.
Just remember that the ring probably has left-hand (reverse) thread.

This ā€œon time memoryā€ sounds like a really bad idea to me. I thought it was a bug: normally it is like that

- Turn on the switch: if the light has been OFF for more than 2 seconds turn on in the last mode, otherwise turn on in last mode+1.
Instead the S2+ works this way:

  • Turn on the switch: if the light has been ON for more than 2 seconds turn on in the last mode (regardless of how much time the light has been off, either 100 ms or 2 days) otherwise turn on in last mode+1.

Is there any way to mod this behaviour (apart from reflashing the whole driver) or even just disable the memory? It just drives me crazy.

NANJG drivers have always had on time memory.

Off time memory isnā€™t always perfect either. The time needed to lock in memory varies when the driver is hot vs cold, particularly in higher amp lights and those that donā€™t use the best quality off time capacitor.

Nope. Not without reflashing.

uh, I didnā€™t know that, thanks
