BLF Kronos X6/X5 GB - Group Buy now closed.

Ugh I’m sorry man that’s just awful. People make me sick sometimes I swear. Hopefully karma will catch up to them.

MY mistake thinking it was the SS/Cu set but my position still stands.

Ken, you need to learn more....just fact of it. You look for the tiniest fault in everything and that is not what this place is (at least in my opinion). This place takes great pride in taking nothing and making something. With these group buys we do our best to make that possible for everyone with no effort AND at a cost less than what one could do for the cost of parts alone.

The yellow may or may not go away...I do not know because it IS not uncommon BUT once you mentioned "Contact Neal" all bets are off in my book. If you can make it go away ...great...if not, then just sell them...you are after-all in the flashlight reselling business.

Arrival! 8 total days with that free Priority Direct shipping, can’t beat that. I got them about 1:00. Wanted to go for a bike ride. Didn’t open the package at all, how many could do that? Came home from the ride and opened it, first the S.S. OH MY GOODNESS! Not a mark on it. People weren’t lying when they said these were HEAVY! I got 2 clips with mine, both in the bag. The light/UI works great. Thanks to Dale’s config. video posted earlier it was simple. Haven’t attempted changing the number of modes yet however… I’m giddy over these. Should have bought more sets  Will definitely have to get an aluminum set as well, as these will be shelf Queens. The lit tailcaps are nice but can’t get used to them. Not going back to find a post but this lit tailcap doesn’t draw too much power? No worries? I don’t want to have to keep unscrewing the tailcap to turn it off. And then there is fear of GALLING  Whatever.

The copper one is awesome as well. Great lil size. After seeing some pics it would be nice to have an amber or red tail light in this one. The clip came on the copper light. How do I get it off without scratching the body?

These two lights are amazing. Sorry for the others, but mine do not have a mark on them. I did not get the box. I think TK said the S.S. put out 1400 lumens stock. How about the copper one? Did I hear 1300?

I couldn’t be happier with these. I’ll just keep these 2 and get rid of my other 70 lights! Wait, I’m keeping the A6 too. The wait was worth it. No way to show my gratitude. Here’s a couple of pictures:

I got my set #021/400. Here are my first impressions.

  1. The lights are heavy!
  2. Some of the corners of box are a little dinged from shipping, but only noticeable upon close inspection.
  3. The bottom felt is worn through because of the weight of the lights and movement during shipping.
  4. The black foam insert smells. I am concerned about deterioration over time. Who knows how the outgassing will affect the metals.
  5. The X5 can tailstand when off but is wobbly when on. The X5 is wobbly when off and won’t tailstand when on.
  6. Both emitters are not exactly centered.
  7. Other than tiny issues above, the build quality is excellent.

My plan is to shave some rubber from the tail caps and investigate replacing the foam insert.

Edit: I shaved 1mm from the X5 tail cap and it is stable tail-standing.

Thats because I ordered cheap (type Ultrafire and Cree) lights, that’s promised the world, and was just crap. The last 6 months or so, I have only got Convoy S2+ (30 pcs) and Convoy C8 AK47 (10 pcs) lights from Simon, each specially modified (and Gearbest), Eagle Eye X6 XP-L HI (6 pcs) from a producer that made a small batch, then I have been on three Group Buys here, actually 4. BLF A6 (got 7), BLF D80 (got 4), 4 x BLF-348 - Classy and Small 1xAAA Stainless Steel light and now the BLF X6 SS/Cu and Al GB. Also got some JM35, Yezl y3 and a Nitecore MH20 (it was expensive)

I have learned from my mistake, and would say that I only buy premium lights now, since the GBs provides premium lights. If they don’t do that, and people still think I buy crap, why do we have the GBs then?

But still, this time I was unlucky with ONE Al X5 light of all the lights mention over

Uncommon, yes, but not for lacking of trying to get premium lights without the knowledge to build one my self.

Thats little of my point. You use so much time to create the “perfect” light, for a good price. You work for months. Then, when I buy a such light, I have higher exception to that light then to a $2 Ultrafire light on Ebay. I must be the most unlucky person on this planet, for what is the change that I get a slightly “damaged” light from this great GB?

Stop taking it so personal. I love the work you and the rest of the team have done. Love the SS/Cu set, love the taillight, love the UI, you have done a hell of a job. But some Chinese person has not done a good job on this Al X6, no QC. That’s not your or the teams fault, but the producer.
Neal is selling thees lights, and if any, he can fix this issue with my light.

So, no personal to you or the team (despite you are very personal with me).

… this makes me sad too.

Blasphemy!

Maybe TK can activate the remote GPS locator for you.

Seriously, that sucks. I hope they drop the X6 on their toe.

Not just crap I have now…

To restate an earlier thought in a different way…

Thanks for thinking of us organizers, southland. Defending us, fighting for us. Skirmishing with the nay-sayers. The thought is appreciated. Warm fuzzies all around.

However, I kind of agree with Brett… for one simple reason. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for this.

I can handle the flames myself.

I feel your pain. That sucks the big one.
I stopped my mail for the week so I could pick it up from the PO. Also just installed a locking mailbox since mail theft is rampant in some areas now.

Ken, try a latex swim cap or non slip mat laid flat on a table. Use that to grip the reflector and twist the head. Try it at different temperatures. Don’t get defensive, just don’t respond to those posts. That’s a large part of your current reputation. Practice on me.

Tarver...if you are stateside...pm me your address

Maybe try using a couple of the Jar grippers

Got one for my wife and she hasn’t asked me to open a jar in a long time ! (wine yes, jar no)

Saypat, great pics! VERY sharp, man don’t ya just love that knurling!

Ken, you also have a nice shot there, those beauties really stand out in a crowd, even with their Al siblings. Sweet!

I can see where you are headed Bugsy and I have to say, that is really nice of you.

I have a small set of files with the handle end being about 1/8” in diameter. I worked this smooth 1/8” file shank into the metal clip of my X5 then supported the file on both sides over my bench vise with rubber covered jaws while the clip hung loose between the jaws. Then I drove the clip onto the file til it was up against the curve of the bend. When I pulled it back out, the clip was perfectly parallel! My bench vise is plastic, so I wasn’t hitting the clip all that hard with the hammer, the hammer is a ballpeen hammer head but it has no handle on it.
Very pleased with how this worked out.

That looks sweet! Thanks for the info. Now are you got to bend it to contact the body?

At first I really loved the blue. Blue is a mood light, has a calming effect, often elemetary school walls will be painted light blue to chill the kids out, at least that is the theory. When reports came in of its brightness, espescially for dark adjusted eyes, my mild concern was immediately for inadvertantly resetting circadian rhythms. That’s what blue light will do: the studies are old, from the late 1960’s, and sufficiently repeated since then to become known as “good science,” (as opposed to “junk science” that is so popular, and untrustworthy, which is what I think Dale was getting at). As others mentioned, the issue has recently been in the news with LED screens disrupting sleep patterns for iDevice-like consumers keeping themselves awake inadvertantly with bright screens with a lot of blue light coming out of them. Some manufactures are responding to this, adding a feature to reduce the blue light, a night mode.

Then I had to admit to myself, in all honesty, that I am a night owl, so this won’t affect me adversely being up all night anyway. Night time is peaceful. The blue light will accentuate the peaceful mood with a tranquil calming. Though I love the Sun, flashlights work best at night.

Now after seeing your images, I realized suddenly there is a problem with blue light due to my subtropical location… bugs! For that reason alone, I may opt to switch to a lower frequency, higher wavelength. Most bugs should be entirely unaware of 660nm… but then there is the heat of red, which mosquitoes are somewhat attracted to, can apparently detect, and they investigate. I’m not sure what the ideal light frequency is to both avoid both attracting the little harmless critters as well as the annoying biting ones is— possibly an orange, 600nm, orange-red, whathaveyou.

With all the earlier talk of replacement switch assemblies without the LED, I’m now wondering of the possibility of attaining more switch assemblies with the LED, so multiple colors can be created for full swaps. How about entire assembled tail caps, so swapping out becomes nearly effortless? These lights can benefit from neat technical accessories like that. But I don’t know how far is too far, too luxurious and decadent, as having a drawer full of tail switch assemblies in their own tail caps, mostly going unused.

Yes, science is not truth, but instead but an evolving process that brings us ever-closer approximations of truth. Science attempts to model truth. Camelot! Camelot! Camelot! Its only a model. That’s not Truth! The science community moves forward when long standing paradigms are shattered by new theories backed by experiments that are repeatable anywhere with the same results, when these theories give us more accurate results. I’m not sure the paradigm-model of science is even the best one possible, but that’s what everyone has been using for some time now. Oh, you have a new idea? Its crap because this paradigm exists, and your ideas will be suppressed, maybe until long after you’re dead, until the evidence is overwhelmingly in your favor that you are correct. Until then, you’re just a wacko, fringe pseudoscientist. Science is approximations of truth, and models for predictions, and paradigms to protect the models. And it is clear there is a lot of junk out there, mostly the stuff that makes it to the popular media. I left science to study philosophy, because I love knowledge and I was interested in truth. Truth is the domain of philosophy, I’m afraid, and as it turns out, truth is likely unknowable. And science backs this up. What a waste of time and money. TIME and MONEY, now that is the new hotness. Forget science and philosophy, what you want is time and money.

I answered your questions despite being irritated with your tone numerous times because I thought that there was no way that someone could receive as much criticism as you have and continue to be difficult when someone treated you kindly in a gesture of good faith.

You didn’t say thank you, even though myself and others have tried to help you. You refuse to listen when others who are authorities on the subjects you question try to give you information that would solve your problems. You insult all of us by claiming that you were the one that was being reasonable.

If you have any other questions, I hope someone else has more patience than I do, because I’m done.

Btw, I’m not going to alert Neal that you are a trouble maker, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else does or already has.

You are on my permanent “Do not deal with” list that I keep in pen on paper on the top shelf of my desk.
