I've got many SF's from back in the day. I still use a couple of them often, namely the 10X911 (Dominator) cuz it's a rechargeable and an L4 w/ 17670 cuz it's one of my bedstand lights.
A couple of years ago, I bought a 6P LED (before I came here and got all infected with cheaper/brighter) at Fry's for $89. That's 140 lumens (I think) and it won't accept anything bigger than primaries. It is very much a quality piece but when I got my first L2P and dropped an XM-L in that bad boy . . . . $35 total to assemble a flashlight of equal or even better quality that is so much brighter, a comparison would serve only to amuse.
And, I had to buy a new head for it before I could even put a new drop-in . . . in. Maybe if I was rich but, probably not even then.
They seem like a good way to get rid of about 600 bucks quickly. Sure, you get TIR optics for absolutely no usable spill and nothing but an overpowering hotpot but you get to use 40 CR123s to power the thing too.
