Surefire

Surefire advantages:

* Probably can withstand a flashthrower

* Probably can withstand any other slight hits via WW2 era weapons

* Can withstand 99.99% of dickish-behavior among owners.

Sans that - what's the benefit? Outdated emitters (pisses me off - I recall when they were at the forefront). Anything else they can offer?

Good looks…Nothing else.

A warranty I suppose. Some people just like to “Buy American” and others aren’t particularly price sensitive and are brand sensitive/loyal apparently.

My co-worker a soldout surefire lover will agure all shift about his mighty surefires but at the end of the night guess who wins in the dark…

The guy with the TK41 or TF-X9...haha.

BOOYAH!

I've got many SF's from back in the day. I still use a couple of them often, namely the 10X911 (Dominator) cuz it's a rechargeable and an L4 w/ 17670 cuz it's one of my bedstand lights.

In my opinion, the warranty is all they got.

A couple of years ago, I bought a 6P LED (before I came here and got all infected with cheaper/brighter) at Fry's for $89. That's 140 lumens (I think) and it won't accept anything bigger than primaries. It is very much a quality piece but when I got my first L2P and dropped an XM-L in that bad boy . . . . $35 total to assemble a flashlight of equal or even better quality that is so much brighter, a comparison would serve only to amuse.

And, I had to buy a new head for it before I could even put a new drop-in . . . in. Maybe if I was rich but, probably not even then.

Just having a little fun

They seem like a good way to get rid of about 600 bucks quickly. Sure, you get TIR optics for absolutely no usable spill and nothing but an overpowering hotpot but you get to use 40 CR123s to power the thing too.
