Best 3xXML budget light?

Over at CPF consensus seems to be the Dry "brand" lights.

Same consensus? I don't necessarily mean best value (kinda subjective), but of the non-name-branders - what's the best irrespective of cost?

Thanks. Also - I appreciate the lack of Disneyland-with-the-death-penality vibe here. Good to have alternatives!

Welcome to the forum bbb. A lot of people here have and like the DRY also. I have the original model skyray 3800 and it has been great for me. It lives a life of constant abuse from my son and keeps on going.

I haven't used any 3*XM-L lights, aside from the TR-3T6, so I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you. I just wanted to say welcome to BLF and this,

has got to be the most hilarious and accurate description of the other place I've ever seen. :D

I don't hang out over there because life is too short and I don't really care about all the soap opera-esque drama and circle-j*rcking but whenever I look something up on CPF, I never feel like I want to stay longer than I absolutely have to. It's like somebody liked the vibe of the obligatory Nazi-episode of their favorite TV show too much and decided to recreate it online.

Ah, "Disneyland..." is a quote about Singapore, which I think is equally true about CPF. Both very nice places, but Singapore outlawed the sale and import of *chewing gum* for a decent amount of time - to keep spit gum off the streets you understand.

Similar mindset.

I'd choose TK70. usd 180 shipped from HKE, $4 for the battery carriers so you can use 8 x AA or 6 x AA in real emergency (where AA Alkalines would be the most available), good quality.... good output + throw. 20L and over 200hrs of output (if you need that). If batteries + NiMH charger is an issue, just get 2 x 32600 from kaidomain, usd34 shipped - 1kg weight overall and slightly shorter @ 3D cell length as you won't be using the extender.

The DRY has great output but only appeals to flashaholics. It cannot maintain 2500L OTF for more than a few minutes - well you could if you want to...but you risk blowing the Li-ion cells because it will get really really hot (not hand-holdable). TK70 easily 15 mins even in the hottest nights over 30 deg C ambient..

What is HKE? Best I found the TK70 was around 230 bucks. Yikes! Got a link?

Oh, and I do appreciate that links don't get deleted around here unlike SOME overly moderated places... ;-)

Hi Joe, welcome!

I think HKE is http://www.hkequipment.net, but their price for the TK70 was $230 as you mentioned.

I had the original SkyRay 3800 and now have the Skyray 818 and the TF 3xT6 (2x18650). They all draw 3A from fresh batteries. If you're after the 2x18650 light get the TF.

You need to email Stanley @ HKE for personalised BLF pricings. :)

But sometimes his prices also fluctuate a little....

His Fenix pricings are the best around..... even better than Andy Wong of Ebay (Olightworld), which is ILIKEFLASHLIGHT's fav. :) For the branded flashlights, email them....won't go wrong. Much better service/price than the usual stores here, even MF.

2100 - are you native to Singapore? Just curious as I've had a few friends from there, yet never been, and I've seen your posts quite a lot on first CPF & now here.

I found this thread to be interesting. It has BEAMSHOTS from a great variety of triple XM-L lamps, along with a few others for reference like TK 70 and some smaller ones.

It covers the 2 skyrays and the trustfire. The Skyray 3XT6-850 is really strong! But from my reading, it is unreliable? Kinda surprising since its only 2 18650s.

HAHAHAHAHAHA BLF is so much more tolerant than CPF, they don't even ban spammer bots :)

CPF Ban to ensue: "YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED FOR SAYING BLF IS MORE TOLERANT THAN CPF ON ANOTHER BOARD!!!"

Hey, I have feelings you know!
