BLF After Dark, CSS theme [not relevant anymore]

Thank you for easing the pain…

Thanks TK! Got it working on my tablet in firefox. Nice for in the evenings, and when I want the classic style I start blf in chrome
It is now even more obvious that the battery is inserted backwards in saypats avatar

That sounds like an apt description of iOS.

The after dark style seems to have removed the ‘back to top’ and ‘home’ buttons at the end of each page… (firefox, android)

GREAT !!

thanks

Yes, I removed the ‘top’ links. Or maybe the file I started with did that, I forget. I haven’t missed them though.

If you search the css file for “jump to top”, there’s an obvious “display: none” line to edit to get the links back.

On Android, after reading through a thread, I usually just pull up my bookmarks and go directly back to the my-subscriptions page to find the next topic. I’m not sure if this works for you or if getting the ‘top’ links back is better.

in advanced post editor the letters are black on dark

I don’t mind the lack of the top button, but when at the end of a thread, I normally use the home button to get back to the recent posts page, now I have scroll to top to hit the recent posts button. Or do I do something obviously wrong?

My eyes and myself thank you for this

Cheers David

HA! Nice one TK!

That’s odd, since I didn’t actually style that. I’m not even sure how to style it, since it renders itself with some fancy javascript. However, it seems that I can at least change the text color by changing the main global document text color.

BTW, did you see the complaint earlier about the interest list in one of your threads?

It seems the list items have explicit background colors set. I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to remove the style though.

Ah, okay. I never noticed those links before. It looks like the file I started with got rid of the entire footer. I added them back though, and it’ll be in the next update.

Why not have BLF serve this theme up and let the user decide which theme to use? Put the user’s choice in a cookie and voila!

That would require SB to add a theme selection system, and then officially support both. It’s extra work for someone who is already backlogged.

Okay, a new version is published to userstyles.org. In no particular order:

  • Re-added explanation about how email notifications work on “my subscriptions” page, but made it smaller.
  • Made text readable in the advanced post editor (and as a side effect, changed the default text color everywhere).
  • Moved “Write new message” link to a nicer spot in private message pages.
  • Made “(new)” marker stand out more, black on red shadow.
  • Fixed weird junk color on form section titles, like on the “my account” edit pages.
  • Re-added the poll widget in left menus.
  • Re-added the “Jump to top” and “Home” links at the bottom of each page.
  • Added styles for input widgets, buttons, text entries, etc.
  • Made a few action links look like form buttons.
  • Removed background colors from links and spans in forum posts. (not sure if this is a good idea, but it makes some posts look better)
  • Made signature text smaller on each post.
  • Hide tables in signatures (should probably not do this, feedback welcome).

Here’s a small preview:

Installed. Thanks for this TK, much better

I didn’t know how much I needed this till I saw this. HUGE improvement!

Many Thanks!

This is awesome, thanks TK for everything (including turning me into a linux convert!)

I did what?

Small update:

  • Minor color changes on quotes.
  • Styled <pre> tags, which were missed before.

Separately-installable style published to limit quote nesting depth.

Also, a couple other separately-installable styles added to get rid of other page elements, but not published on userstyles.org (only on tk.net). They remove stuff which shouldn’t be removed, like the search widget or some other things, so they’re not included by default or as easy to install.

The day that the forum was down we chatted about which linux distro would work on my netbook, got linux mint installed and flashed my first drivers from linux last night…i owe you much gratitude (and drinks!)
