I received an xtar charger that failed when the AC adapter was plugged in. Xtar warrantied charger and I told them I’d destroy the first since I couldn’t send it back as they requested. The shell, messed up circuit board and sliding contacts remained, so, I built a charger/light combo using a 4056 charger and half (4.2V) of a messed up MTG2 LED.
The left ‘bay’ is the charger and the right bay has a 3x 7135 driver powering the LED. The ‘diffuser’ is piece of a toothbrush case stuck down with double sided tape.
I installed an A6 driver in a Nitefighter 502B. Driver ring was jammed so I drilled the driver and left it in place. Filled the gap with wire and soldered. The spring actually needs to be clipped but I chose to put a thicker Oring and all is well. I really do like the A6 driver. Wish the Bistro was available. Nice light now!!
Built a Trustfire Mini 01 triple today with some spare parts i had.
Copper & QTC pill in the tail for variable output, Also made a copper head spacer.
I didn’t realise the 3 XP-G2 were different tints until i had it put together, doh - i think there’s maybe a 2B, 2C and 1A in there, not entirely sure. :-/
This bothers my CDO so i will call it an intended tint balancing feature
Also ground off the keychain attachment and installed a magnet in the tail and some heatshrink around the body.
Kinda forlorn here since I don’t have the time to do any modding, as we are moving to a new home, and all my parts and tools are put away.
I just replaced the reflector on my original first-ever high-power LED flashlight purchased, an original UltraFire 501b, with an EZ-900 XR-E R2 emitter. I swapped the P60 OP reflector with a spare SMO I had handy. I had forgotten what kind of beam this light would make in this configuration. It was slightly ringy, but not as bad as I had expected. Now, it has a very intense and rather well-defined hotspot, making it a surprisingly good thrower. I may eventually add a fourth 7135 to the driver, pushing it just a little bit harder…
I put an xpg2 into a DST with a 2S, 5A buck driver, finally. Just need to bypass the tail spring to wrap it up. Also prepped a Jacob A60 to receive a dedomed xpg2 because I may have fried the previous one… whoops.
I have one that I offered to sell a while ago, and still might sell. The biggest issue is the shipping will add $10-15 probably. (and I did a few “mods” to it and made it a little ugly  ) lol
Haha, it has to come to that! I just kick myself for not realizing the potential of those lights. I know I’ll come across one at a garage sale, some day.
