New Convoy Deep Carry clip

I actually wondered about it when you said the store was back up and running. It wasn’t working for me until a few days after you said that and when it was open there was s a disclaimer banner that nothing will ship until after February 15th. Unfortunate for you but there’s nothing Simon can do about it. The Chinese New Year pretty much shuts the all of China down for near a month. I also expect orders from any Chinese supplier shipping right after CNY have a higher chance of shipping issues as they try to catch up from taking a month off. Fasttech doesn’t even take orders during this time. I think I actually prefer a full shutdown like that as there is no confusion.
Cheap as they are you could always grab a handful from Richard for a few dollars.

Edit: I do sympathize. This stinks for me too. Simon and I typically communicate daily and I’ve gotten maybe two responses from him in the last three weeks. I knew it was coming but man… a whole month? Sigh… CNY blues sounds about right.

i am gonna have to replace the bolt on clips on all my convoys with these! thanks for the pic J-Dub!

You’re quite welcome. Your post was a good reminder for me. I’d been thinking about what it would be like mounted on that last ring since I started tinkering with the design but by the time the clips came it had been pushed to the back of my mind.

Thank you. I probably should have expected it. I was surprised when I was able to see/order from Simon’s website a day before expected. Didn’t see a banner at that time so it may not have been up yet. No big deal really and life goes on

i don’t like how high up the tail cap sits with with the old style clip. always seems like it is too easy to turn the light on by accident. and i never realize till my pocket is 150 degrees, all my lights are triples running off FET drivers with copper spacers from MTN.

OK, I went to order a couple of clips and some other bits from Simon’s store. Ended up with 8 small items totalling $14, all of which would fit in a small jiffy bag. At checkout the only way I could find to upgrade to registered shipping was to pay $2 PER ITEM i.e. $16 extra! Surely that can’t be right, or am I missing something?

He changed something in his shipping for small items and I don’t completely understand it and have not had a chance to address it with him yet. Get your order in your cart and then PM Simon about it through the Ali system. He will help sort it out and it certainly won’t cost you $16 for shipping. This was his way of trying to address the complaints about minimum quantity orders but it seems a bit confusing. The best advice I can give is to contact him directly. My guess is that the system can’t bundle it properly but after you contact Simon the shipping will almost certainly drop down to a few dollars in total, not per item.

Edit: This happened during the factory move and over CNY so a few things like this will need to be ironed out.

I remember seeing in one of the listings something about paying for upgraded shipping on one item, and he will ship all together with the upgraded shipping.

Is $.88/clip the cheapest that these have been available for?

As far as I know, yes. Honestly I don’t know why he dropped the price that low. There can hardly be any profit at that price point. It was already a ridiculous steal at the original price. His choice though.

Thanks J-Dub74.

That’s what I did in the end and reading through the listings again I think that’s how it’s supposed to work.
Well I hope that’s how it works anyway. Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

The new ordering system could certainly do with some tweaking as it’s rather confusing as it stands.

Thanks for the replies.

Can confirm that you can upgrade the shipping on one small item, put a note in the comments about combining them all together, pay the bill and he’ll ship them all at the upgraded rate. Did it for me yesterday.

Nice. Thanks for confirming.

I ordered three pieces of this clip from Banggood.

Not sure if its a shipping issue or QC issue. One of them was bent upon arrival. The shape of the product does suggest that it is prone to damage, bending or being squashed during shipping in an envelope.

For anyone thinking of getting these, I suggest purchasing extras.

Got my 5 today, fits beautifully on the BLF A6 slightly above where the stock clip goes, on the tailcap actually. Also had a C8 with an XHP70 in it I put one on.

VERY happy.

Do you have to specifically request this? Is it not done automatically?

Edit: went back and left a message just to be on the safe side.

I really have no idea as I didn’t actually speak to Simon about it. I feel like he probably would’ve just done it automatically because it would be silly to send 2 small packages of small parts, but I left him a nice note requesting it anyway. Can’t hurt…

Oh dear, looks like we picked a bad time to place orders. :frowning:

From Simon’s site:

Sorry, all my friends. I have severe periarthritis of shoulder and orders increase day by day. Some orders will be handled slowly, pls be patient. So sorry for the inconvenience.”

Hope Simon gets well soon.

Edit: Despite all his problems, Simon still found time to reply to my message and confirm that my entire order will indeed be sent by registered mail. I’m impressed.

Damn. :-/ I wonder if the order volume is high enough where it could make sense to hire an employee. Does Simon already have employees?

Hey Halo,
He does indeed already have some employees. I don’t know if they are enough, but he has people. Along with this move he was supposed to hire more people to help with his personal workload though I don’t know if that process is complete. I wish that he would have simply shut down during the last several weeks like many other Chinese businesses do during CNY. He has been dealing with this physical issue for a few months and he needs a vacation. All of his employees went on vacation and even the communication company that was wiring his new factory dropped everything half completed for CNY. He stayed.

Simon is very dedicated… Perhaps too much so at times. He’s dealing with an international market that has more twists and turns than what he was aiming for when he started Convoy. He wouldn’t have this problem if he hadn’t made such darn good products. Over the next month I’m hoping to see more progress toward a smooth running business which should involve easing the burden on Simon directly. Thank you for your concern Halo.
