I feel bad for some people

Yesterday a coworker was showing me his Streamlight Strion he paid $150 for because Matco put their name on it. I felt bad because he's really proud of it and other coworkers who were around have already seen my lights and they were talking about the output of mine vs his. I remember when I used to be in the dark. I wish more people could be educated on the kind of flashlight they could possess with far less money and also the kind of output they can achieve vs the incan crap that's still out there.

I feel same when someone buys "Chinese crap" flashlight from local shop 2-4 times price you can get it from China.

Or the toy flashlights that are the bomb because they're 9 LED!

Hey it would be the bomb if it were 9 XML led's!!!!

Or if it were nine 18650…

I used to agree - I've decided I'm glad they're not popular, because then they'd be in the stores I go to and I couldn't resist buying one everytime I went in for something else lol

I swear, I'd be totally bankrupt...

I have several lights I've just bought on impulse, to play with, that to any newb would be a good deal but were a total waste if I was more patient w/ DX shipping lol

I just had a guy the other day would not back off his claim that his 9LED was better than my Fenix E20 with XML even when compared side by side! After all it has NINE LEDs! Among his other gems, his Mag has a replacement LED in it and it is the most powerful flashlight commercially available, so much so that he can light up reflective traffic signs over 100yds away and that LEDs do not create any heat. This came up because he was there when I was giving another guy his stainless P60 XML light and I was explaining the need for restraint in it's use because of heat.

I really hadn't considered the explosion angle before.

But I admit I feel more special with my sweet budget XM-L lights that aren't found in your local hardware or electronics store for the very fact that they're not so easy to come by. The exclusivity adds to the fun and excitement.

I feel special

Maintenance guy just bought our production manager a LedLenser hocusfocus, because that´s about the only LED light sold in hardware store... Must have paid at least 70$ from it...

On the other hand, I have bought maybe 20 lights/ headlamps to my buddies at work. Word spreads that I can access china-imports and that "my" lights beat LedLensers and are way cheaper.

It´s not a big deal to order abroad but it is to people, who don´t have Paypal or even Credit option in their bankcard and do not speak or write eny english...

I´ve been delivering lights for some time. One maintenance-guy ordered Solarforce "just like mine" was. XM-L with diffuser for close work, will rock in his job...

I usually take only a buck or two for handing them out since I think the whole idea kinda dies, if you start taking %$%$ of profit from cheapies :|

Could not agree more ....

OMG. Next time, you should offer him nine shiny pennies for each of his awful single dollar bills…
I wonder what he would say about an SST-90 at 9amps?

I love when people see my light and they say "wow how many leds is that?" lol

or on the flip side they see my 980l in a lit office and equate it to "about as bright as their shake light"

some people just are clueless or have been fed lies..

Cheap Thrills -

That is interesting because I've found that even people like my boss and some of the heavy hitters I come into contact with, people that purchase regularly on the internet, seem to believe I have some special connection to China. My boss told one of the guys that funds some of our car collection deals about the 980L I got for him - even after I told him that I simply went to a site and ordered a fully assembled flashlight, charger and batteries, he still asked, "can you get me one?"

I happen to have a new L2/UF XM-L on my desk and that's what he wants.

"It'll be just like this one, right?"

"Yes."

"And, I can just keep one battery in the light and the other in the charger and I never have to buy batteries?"

"Yes."

"And, it'll be this bright?"

"Yes"

Like you, I tack on maybe $5 because I do like doing it and I can also "piggy-back" an extra item or two on the same order and not arouse Mrs. Foy's suspicions.
