New forum style

Hi everyone,

I changed the forum style a bit. I hope you like it! Please let me know.

Thanks, have fun!

Too white, not enough contrast.

I agree. Lines are nearly impossible to see. And Online/Offlinedot is nearly the same.

Lots of warningmessages on top:

  • warning: fopen(sites/all/libraries/whizzywig/whizzywig.js) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sb73542/public_html/sites/all/modules/wysiwyg/editors/whizzywig.inc on line 49.
  • warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/sb73542/public_html/sites/all/modules/wysiwyg/editors/whizzywig.inc on line 50.
  • warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/sb73542/public_html/sites/all/modules/wysiwyg/editors/whizzywig.inc on line 55.

Ok, how about this one?

Very nice here Mr, Admin and no warningmessages!

I hope you make frequent backups, when you are fiddling around with the optical appearance.

Cool, thanks Nautic. Actually the warning messages were from another issue that I was working on apart from the site theme, but they are fixed now too.

It's mainly point-and-click. If I don't like it, I just revert back to the old settings. ;-) I'm actually a terribly coder, so I have to rely on pre-made themes, which are selectable from the admin interface.

Im used to www.hardocp.com style and find it very pleasing. Also i believe black background along with light grey test is very pleasing to read.

I like the switching for day time / night time, like this site has: LINK (click on the power switch in the upper right corner)

At first, I thought something was wrong with my computer until I stumbled upon this thread. Laughing

It's different from what I was used to but I'll adjust. Wink

The problem w/ this vertical style is that is that most people have wider monitors than they have high, so you get less stuff onto the same space. More significantly, it spaces posts out and interupts the flow of comments.

I have a 1920x1200 in portrait and the threads still look drawn out. I dislike this more than the color change, the original forum format was really quite good. I think if you wanted to change the colors, maybe make the comment box's blue less baby-blue to match the background.

Hmmm, yes I guess that's one way to look at it. I personally don't like that the previous style was always a fixed height, even when the comment was short. But I'm just the admin here, if you want I can change it back in two clicks. ;-)

You are correct, it wasn't any more space efficient, but it felt like it because that was empty space. Now you get info there which isn't really directly relevant to the discussion which makes it feel very crownded, whereas before it's seperated into it own column. It's kind of like forums where everyone has a signature with pics, it makes it somewhat annoying to page through.

Your wish is my command! ;-)

Reverted.

What the hell, my computer is acting up again. Laughing
