Convoy S2+ Desert Tan Available Now!

Might have to finally get an S2+ now…

Keep talking like that and we might have to bump you up to twotrickpony.

Long time ago but definately awesome news, a black clip and button will look nice with a tan color but the finish of the anodizing shouldnt be shiny like the green or blue version, it must be matte and more raw. I would say like those zebralight models. Im sure this is probably even easier to do because i think for the shiny finish you need a step more inn production but i could be wrong. Another side effect is that the light will look more like tool and kind of more expensive looking in my mind. Maybe this is not possible with every color but i know that a natural color like in this picture is “matte”, the sand color and black looks shiny. Maybe it just have something to do how much you beadblast the aluminium before the anodizing. Those zebralights are definately not shiny and of course those armyteks but those get beadblasted i guess.

From the start of this project (indeed a long time ago) I made it clear that the look were going for depended on the sand/tan color anodizing having a matte finish. Hopefully a sample of the color will be available soon.

Giggity!

Any more waterproofing for the button?

Can’t wait to see the picture.
Tan color will be the perfect judgement for me to buy this legend flashlight.

This is exactly my style. I don’t have an S2+ yet and haven’t cared when I got one because I’m not really into colorful (blue, red, purple, etc) lights. My A6 has sated my tube light needs up to this point… but I’d be tempted to buy multiple quantities of something such as a black and tan desert themed light. I know it’s probably annoying to be getting suggestions for other colors before the one you’re working on is even finalized (again) but since all the groundwork for this tactical style will be done such as the black oxide button, a light with an olive drab body would be a good companion to this tan one. Then when the tides of war change to a more jungle/forest setting the olive or forest green and black will again be the prevailing tactical color trend and the lights will already be available. I’d buy a set of tan and olive lights because I love how the two themes look together.

Yes we NEED pics
Must … see … pics

Hopefully it will have a matt finish, shiny anodizing would spoil the look.If Richard stocks these I’d be in for one with the new clip.

will these have xpl led inside? to increase the throw a bit? I have a blue s2+, the throw is not very far at all. 2.8A I like the idea of tan, it would look great on OD gear, I may buy one. maybe 4 or 6 7135 this time.
On Richard website, I was looking at the c8s, there is an option to have a driver with many modes, I think it was guppydriver. Is there any way I can buy that driver for an s2+? or even for a c8 I have in the mail from simon?

Ok now I’m interested since all my gear (I have a color choice in) is sand, tan, coyote, or digital desert camo.

Not yet. If we wait for the redesign of the metal button we won’t see this light until 2017. As it is, the waterproofing on the existing switch really isn’t bad. It would survive a drop in a puddle just fine, you just don’t want to leave it in the bottom of a swimming pool over night. It’s not intended as a diving light. It is only slightly less waterproof than a solid silicone switch boot. Emarkd did some testing for us including submerging it in a bowl of water for 15 minutes then taking it apart finding zero water had had gotten inside. It’s not perfect and will be reworked eventually but it’s not top priority at this moment.

If you’re worried about waterproofness you can always add a second seal in the tailcap - aka the thumb of a nylon glove.

Great to see the S2+ Tusken Raider edition has it’s own thread. I have been looking forward to this light.

Have you ever thought about gunblue for the black metal parts? I’m not talking about DIY stuff, but the real thing used on rifles…

I’d be interested in this color format as well (could always use another S2+)

I’m going to toss this out for consideration….orange. This may seem like an odd request, but in the camping/hiking/prepping/emergency preparedness world the color orange rules supreme since it is easier to see in dim light conditions and easily identified if dropped in the great outdoors. I’ve talked with Simon about this but not sure if he understands the market for this light in this color format. I know that I’d push it in the camping/hiking/prepping/emergency preparedness community (I have a lot of time in with this community).

If he dropped the strobe mode in favor of beacon in the orange format it would also be a huge plus. H/M/L/SOS and beacon would be the ticket for the target audience. And too be honest, a firefly mode would go over well.

Just some thoughts if that’s okay

An XP-L won’t really make it throw any better. The XP-L is essentially an XM-L2 dye on an XP-G2 footprint with a flat sided dome. This just makes it more compatible with mounting it as an alternative to an XP-G2. But performance, beam, viewing angle and throw will be almost identical to an XM-L2. At least close enough that you’d not likely see the difference by eye.

An XP-L HI however would be a different matter.

If anyone wants a particular colour, the secret to getting J-dub to suggest it is to relentless mention your preferred colour anytime he mentions an S2+ :stuck_out_tongue:

(Don’t actually do this, J-dub will hate me)

Seriously though, a safety orange would be pretty cool.
DeputyDave, would it be better on something like the F6 though, especially if the tail spike was made of a functional material that could break a window? Or is a functional window breaker still too gimmicky for preparedness people?

If a triple nichia was built in it, for long runtime , would 3a be sufficient or maybe 1.5a.
Max 5-600 lumens high.
Thanks
