Thorfire S50 / microReview + Budget Mod

of course you can use a resistor - but which value us the question…

Very nice review and mod demonstration. Thanks, M4D M4X.

Very cool!! Excellent presentation.

Great review! So the solderblob has no effect on the lower mods? Just on high mode? Does it still have the stepdown timer?

Great video Martin, very easy mode

thanks guys!

i am sorry for the bad quality as i only have my mobile phone for videos…
i have to find another lightsource - the LEDbulbs i used (IKEA) seem to flicker a bit :frowning:

i will do the S70 in a similar way (hopefully with less silver Fingers…) soon.

Thanks MM. Nice review with bonus mod to boot.

Hey mate nice video thanks.

what tool do you use to open the driver makes it look so much easier?

You could try an R1 or R050 SMD resistor to lower the amps a little.

Well done! Looking forward to your S70 review/mod.

stock was “loose“ and i opened it by turning the driverspring only.
after adding the thermal paste two fingets sre needed:D

Everything was great except for the silver fingers. You should amputate them right now.

Hey, good review. I like that light, it seems like a solid build.

Does the solderblob have effect on the lower mods? Or just onthe high mode? Does it still have the stepdown timer?

just a bit
see the table in the op

did not try that - but i see no reason why it should have changed
(its a timer)

Whoops, I’m a dummy, I did not notice that. I thought it was just manufacturer specs. Thank you!

Back in stock, or at least it can be ordered. Just had one

thanks for the info!

you know where to get a code…

Martin,

Does the turbo step-down kick in at 3 minutes or does it step down sooner?

How hot (subjectively) does the modded S50 get when it reaches step-down?

Does the modded S50 continue to heat up, even after downshifting to the high mode? If so, does it step down a second time (from high to medium)?

I wonder how well the turbo step-down works for the modded S50 and whether the flashlight will overheat when left on high.

Great work, BTW!

Too bad this light is sold out at banggood
