Says it's 501b capable. Looks like it screws down over the drop-in. I don't know if this would fit on 502's or 504's. Maybe someone with those lights could comment.
Screws onto the head where the bezel goes. Proabably only works with L2's or 504's. You get to keep the cresenated head to stab people with while you light up the whole area.
This looks like a copy of the Solarforce, but kind of hard to tell since I don't have one. And you get a free light (501 lookalike ironically) for the same price....

its only 15 bux, while its only a p4, i bet i can upgrade it no problem, due to its aluminum body (unlike most lanterns ive seen on these sites)
i like the idea of using a flashlight, EXCEPT that it then becomes an AWKWARD lantern to carry. ur already long flashlight becomes a decent bit longer!!!
The heat sinking on that Ultrafire ZF60147 lantern isn't the best (aluminium slug which does not make contact with the chassis) and it uses an XR-C LED on a special board. It has a hidden SOS-mode (press and hold the power button), it is still quite nice though.
A bit of a larger alternative to what has been posted thus far and not a flashlight attachment, but much, much smaller than full-sized lanterns, the rayovac sportsman extreme has become sort of the gold standard for budget led lanterns, at least for those of us in North America.
I installed a buck regulator (this puppy can now run on 10440's ), replaced the LED with an XRE R2, put in a narrow optic to improve the beam and it now works as a flashlight when the top is off, filled the head with thermally conductive material and finally I cemented everything in place with epoxy, so no internal pics sorry.
All metal chassis parts except the hangers are made out of aluminum and you can take the top part off to use it as a hanging ceiling/tent lamp.
I filled the head with aluminum pellets mixed with DX white heat sink glue and while it improved heat sinking it didn't make it perfect since there are plastic parts blocking the thermal path. If one were to drill a couple of holes in them one may get better heat transfer but that'd be more work. The lamp works nice as is and I improved the heat sinking only because I increased the LED current.
