I agonize greatly before buying a light (and research like mad). I would like to buy that Starry light with infinite modes when i have the money though.
3 lights at the moment. Manker U11, Klarus G30, and BLF A6.
I just figured out that since joining this forum
I have spent around £400_on new lights and equipment so I think I’m going to lay off on buying new lights for the time being and learn to mod my own.
This forum really does cause temptation for your wallet.
Has anyone pondered the budget point? Is it that we feel we’ve saved money on a budget light so it’s ok to buy another? If we buy expensive lights, is one enough? Are we, like our women, so sorely tempted by a “deal”? Just why is it that we keep ordering more lights? We only have 2 hands, right?
Think I’m gonna have to do another give-away so I’ll feel better about it all…
My justification is I look at my other more expensive hobbies and figure flashlights are pretty harmless. I can have a shelf full of flash lights or a garage full of bicycles. Other hobbies I could get into are way more time consuming, expensive, or have other drawbacks: golfing, cars, guns. It makes an extra $30 for one with a slightly different emitter seem reasonable.
I haven’t spent a nickel on lights in years. It’s just time to upgrade to modern LEDs.
Take this old P4. It was my first ever MagMod. Sure it still works but an XM-L2 could make it so much better.! It doesn’t even have a driver board. Just a single resistor.
On top of the modding parts and supplies there are a handful of hosts and complete lights cruising my way on the slow boat. For my money, I expect hard working tools… That’s all.
Secretly, I’m hoping for a few ooohs and aaaahs around the campfire.
