Dealers

Doesn’t it seem as if the dealers have taken over? I get it that none of us have to read threads that annoy us but at the moment there are 7 threads on the first page of “most recent posts” that are dealer related.

Is there really even a need for dealers on here? I understand that some have gotten a few discounts via group buys at DD but the deals seem very and far between and the posts go on for months.

Now we have dealers who offer 6% discounts and post constantly regarding light bulbs. The “good deals” section is abused by dealers who just pick a product at random from their site and post there.

Group buy threads go on and on and posts from past group buys go on and on.

Other than group buys is there any need for dealers on BLF? Why not just delete any post from any dealer unless it is posted in the dealer forum and then only if it’s related to a group buy? It would also be nice if we could opt out of the dealer forum so it doesn’t appear on the recent post list.

There are thousands of dealers in China. Eventually this site could just become a board for Chinese dealers.

Maybe just sent them the link to this post and hit the spam button if they are in the wrong category.

I think we settled long time ago where these posts belong.

Maybe Mr. Admin can post a link upon registration to every new registered user, so these sellers don't have the excuse to not know where the posts belong. Something along the lines: "If you intend to commercially sell products on this board, please read this post first."

It seems that only Ric from CNqualitygoods.com is using this forum right.

We either need some kind of filters or an 'ignore thread' button.

Personally, the latter would work better for me. I don't mind seeing 'what I got today' or 'joke of the day' threads living long lives, but (for example) the October DD thread stopped being of any use weeks ago.

I like that Devman, an “ignore thread” button rather than an “ignore a specific person” button!

I’d ignore all dealer and group buy threads and that would be about it.

CPF has no dealers.... Can't even talk about them.

You can't talk about a lot of things there. I'd rather put the (hopefully easy and convenient) choice in the hands of each individual than cut out the dealers. It's kinda nice that we can talk to (some!) of the guys, give and get feedback, and sometimes shame them into decent customer service.

Per-thread filters might be something interesting to implement, but we'd either need a nice simple plugin or one of use would need to scratchbuild it for Mr. Admin... maybe for christmas?
