Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

One more idea from the peanut gallery. Probably not for this group buy, but maybe in the future. A “mini” SRK with 4P 14500 and 4x XPL HI V3 emitters! Integrated shelf should dissipate heat well enough. Smaller reflector size would ensure less throw, but who ever bought SRK for throw anyway? Sizing it down to 4x 14500 would make it pocketable, and with the 4x XPL HI V3 emitters, it would still be awesomely bright! A lot of the longer standing members already have SRK-size SRK’s (LOL), but the smaller size would make it unique, and possibly more would be on board for one. Then again, maybe I’m the only one. :stuck_out_tongue:

One note about the size: the ratio of diameter/length of a 14500 is almost exactly the same as 18650, so the entire body design of the SRK could just be scaled down a bit and still look and function the same. Nothing new to design, really. Upgrade the driver and LEDs of course, just like we’re talking about here.

Hahaha oh yeah a cute little baby SRK
I hope we are getting a nice thing going here and can indeed follow that up with a smaller version.

How a about a name for this current BLF Premium Soupcan?

That form factor would be very very cool, I’m all for it, but I would not like to miss out the chance to make it 4S on Eneloops (+alkalines for backup): the energy density will be a little less, but the batteries are safe and available everywhere. And you have 4.8V nominal and great current capability (at 10A you still have over 4V to play with) to make it a real hotrod.

Yes, good point, added!

Two please! I was just showing a friend some SRK videos—one will be a gift for him.

Some thoughts:

  • Nichia 219C — Yes!
  • Bistro UI — Yes!
  • lockout via side switch — Yes!
  • tripod mount?
  • anti-reflective lens?

Thank you for your efforts Miller, I hope this GB takes off quickly!

I can’t commit to buying one right now, but I love the idea! Way to go Miller, and I’m excited to see how this comes out!
Andy

I really like this idea too - in fact, I’d probably be more likely to buy a 4xAA (4S/Eneloop) version than I would a 4x18650 version.

I’ll take one as long as it stays close to the original design and not get super complicated with several switches and a UI that requires a book or flow chart. I want to be able to turn it on (and it be bright) and off easily.
Thanks !!

OP updated.

And I like the idea to follow this up with a smaller baby (AA and 14500 cell) version when all goes well very much!
We should have a good relationship with the manufacterer/seller by then. But lets start here

And seeing how other groupbuys go, this may take some time, do not expect it in your hand anytime soon.

Could there be a ramping driver with this UI:
O 1 click on (on memorized brightness)
O double click hold second click ramping up from moon to turbo, release when brightness of choice is reached.
O triple click hold third click ramping down from turbo to moon, release when brightness of choice is reached.
This sounds like an awesome UI don’t you think?

I’m in for one at least!! Sounds great

You guys are right! What was I thinking? Make it 4S AA for Eneloops! In fact, a buck driver that could handle up to 4S Li-Ion would cover us, wouldn’t it?

easier:
*click for on (on memorised brightness)
*click for off
*when on: hold for ramp up, release when brightness is there
*when on: click-hold for ramp down, release when brightness is there

(this is the simple white part of the further very extended DrJones RGBW UI, works easy and intuitively, this is also how my Photon micro works)

If this came into being, I would do the large one but would do the baby one in a heartbeat!

Well start with the 18650 and hopefully make a baby after that.
We can’t put an little orphan onto this world now can we

How about choosing a ramping driver? Simple to operate, infinite brightness levels so ideal setting for all occasions and users.

Would it be possible to operate this on 3 rather than 4 18650 cells to reduce the weight a bit?

I’m in.

Interested in one depending on price.

2 requests:

  • An option for Host only. Would be attractive to those of use loaded with drivers and emitters.
  • Battery tube extensions. So many folks would love to make their SRK’s 2S4P, 3S4P, even 4S4P! The mod options would become endless. Especially, if the tubes could also fit the TK61 and TK75 (The TK tubes fit the M6, but not the other way around).

I’m in for 1 at least.

Prefer no lighted tailcap, have enough of them now.

Well, it would technically be possible to run it off just one 18650, since they run in parallel. You can put any number you want 1 - 4 into yours.

Ramping function sounds neat for fine-tuning, but sometimes I’m in a hurry. :stuck_out_tongue:

Can we still have direct access to a few well-spaced modes from both on and off states?
