Available on BangGood now:ReyLight Custom-Lumintop‬ Tool Ti AAA, L-M-H

Rey already said it had a CAP that had to charge up. Nothing said anywhere about charging the battery in the smart switch. And if that were indeed the case, then there WOULD be a parasitic drain charging that cell.

The item in the switch looks like

This is a good Seiko capacitor with long cycle life.

Yeah, a good japanese capacitor will last many years without a problem. My light should be arrived today.

Well I’ll be danged! And here I thought that was a “battery”!

Thanks for clearing that up MiG0!

(In the recesses of my dark Lizard brain something was trying to get me to relate this to the “button cell” in my Citizen Eco drive watch. Also a large capacitor that looks just like a flat watch battery. Of course, I don’t know about these things aside from trying to locate a new one for my older Citizen, so… I went full DUH!)

Interesting, much better. The Lumintop site looks pretty useless for support - didn’t see any mention of customer support, just distributor sales contact info.

Just called Lumintop boss to double confirm, it is a cap, not a battery. It drains minimal current, which can’t even be measured.
Pls don’t worry about the lifespan.

Sorry for introducing the word “battery” in this thread. Won’t do it again. :frowning:

Thanks Rey. Great to hear.
Carry on…

Yesterday got mine

An “e-friend” did some tests and he says it is a capacitor and…

It is a good piece

Thanks!!

Great lights Rey and thank you for succeeding in convincing Lumintop to not glue these, had a bit of trouble with switch sensitivity, very very sensitive and has to be adjusted just right or it acts poorly, got mine now working perfect and it explains why the one I bought when they first were released would never work correctly like these do, with feather touch mode changes this is the first time I’ve been able to actually know how the switch was intended to work and it’s great, but my first one was not adjusted correctly and then glued in so absolutely no way to back the switch in or out for adjustments, these are absolutely the best, Thanks again Rey another great GB following the Cu Tool which is my EDC pocket still, looks really great now with the patina, Thanks once more…!!
Edit: And a big Hat’s OFF to MiGO, Wow how does one find an answer like that, brilliant…!

No glue? hmmm, they didn’t promise on that. Few other reports, including mine shows it’s glued, both head and switch retainer.

Got mine Friday.

Rey … thanks for making this Nichia beauty possible.
I love it! Especially the switch.

My new fav EDC

BTW, maybe I missed this, but this light is AAA only? Or will it take a 10440?

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. I am liking it now (with AAA) that that cap in the tailcap is apparently charged… and I also have 3 modes.

It’s AAA only.

Ok, figured that was the case, esp with that electronic tailcap switch, but “no harm in asking”…

Thanks,
Jim

Got my little Ti Tool today, very nice little light! The ONLY thing I can gripe about is that the tail cap doesn’t thread all the way down to meet the battery tube, leaving about a 1-1.5mm gap. I’ll machine the tube down that much and call it a heck of a buy!
Thanks Rey, love it!

are these still avail? how much?

PM coming.

Please do not even think about putting 10440 in this flashlight: the absolute maximum voltage for the tail-switch capacitor is 3.3V.

Thanks for that bit of info! I had thought about it. Would it simply let the smoke out of the capacitor, or could it potentially result in catastrophic failure?
