This has surely been addressed somewhere but is there an easy way to turn off the tail switch light?
With no anodizing and no possible lockout of the light i just can’t imagine removing the battery each time i don’t use the light… or let the battery be drained by the tail light…
Always wanted a Copper Light and almost pulled the trigger on the Tool. Managed to resist, but after getting the Aluminum, I had to order this one. What a great light!
Shame it does not use Reg. AAA’s.
Thanks hatman. The beam of the Astrolux S1 is more flood than throw, whereas the SC has a more defined hot spot, so throws further and has a good level of spill in the beam pattern. The Outdoor shots I took look darker than reality. The SC in my mind would be a good general torch for outdoors where you can use it for shining ahead to look at the walking path or occasionally point the flashlight at some distant object. The S1 is very effective for walking where you are wanting the immediate area lit up. Both excellent flashlights. I did make a small video where I flash the SC and BLF A6 3D across a road to a wooden fence as a comparison. The Astrolux S1 and BLF A6 are almost identical. If I get some time tonight I’ll edit and load onto the review.
The tint on the Astrolux SC reviewed was a 1A which is very different to the warmer 5A.
The short answer is you need to either remove the resistor or the LED in the tail cap, the tail cap light and the drain goes away then. You could swap the switch board with one from a light that doesn’t have the lighted tail cap.
I’ve found if I’m carrying the X5 I need to charge the cell often enough from just use that the tail cap drain isn’t an issue.
Great flashlight review. Specially those images. But don't know why i don't like silver color much. I like Black color flashlight. But, I like this ecogear fx torch very much.
For most people it should be fine. The flashlight is much heavier than any of the same size that I know of, but as it’s quite compact it fits in the pocket nicely. With jeans on not an issue. In looser trousers it’s more noticeable and may be a little too heavy for some.
theyve got this on massdrop for $40 plus p&p although it shows me p&p will be $7 to the UK. which is currently cheaper than bandgood which is now $59.99 (for me anyway)
Thanks for reading the review, and also thank you for your great reviews.
It’s are really nice Flashlight, both in performance and looks. I lost interest in 14500 battery powered flashlights up until I had this one in my hands. I dont have the standard non copper version, but that would also be a great buy for those simply looking for performance. The copper version reviewed in this review is in my mind “a piece of art”.
High @Rolz.
Thanks for the comprehensive and nice review, not to mentioned the excellent beam shots.
If you don’t mind, I posted a link to this review over at my comment on Massdrop page for Astrolux S3 (aluminium) drop as many non-flashaholics there who are interested with the S3 are clueless with what this light can offer.
I’m not affiliated with Massdrop, but just want to help some lost souls over there
