I had already planned a SRK build and had began acquiring components when Miller got this rolling, so I figure Iāll do both. What allowed Miller to race past me was that I slowed in order to find the best host since thereās so little current info on them. The old recommended hosts have been āChinafiedā into lesser beings than they once were so Iām hoping the Thorfire will prove to be that host Iāve be seeking. Iāll know when I get my hands on the BLF Q8, and then Iāll have to be sure my build does even better :smiling_imp:
Iād prefer a balanced logo with some degree of symetry to the text like d or e. I would probably buy two, one to keep as-is and one to decapitate for use with a 3 1/2ā (88.9mm) head, quad xhp-50s, and extension tube. I understand how inclusion of the manufacturerās logo might appeal on that end but a un-corporate-tied logo might make it more distinctive. Something like an eight pointed star to represent the quad cell, quad emitter design. The Q8 could actually become a distinct product line. Good thing thereās little threat of legal action over the planned Audi Q8.
I prefer the larger Thorfire logo of choice āBā where it is a white outline and black fill, but I also prefer the white text on black background. I know āEā is white text on black and it has the larger logo, but the logo on that one is black outline and white fill. Then the outline is lost to the background, which is also black. Ultimately, I chose āDā but if I could have the logo from āBā on the āEā choice of white text on black, Iād rather see that. Anybody understand me?
I get you, but on E it didnāt look good with an extra white outlineā¦ What can be done is to keep E, and reverse the color of the logo so itās black fill white outline while keeping the separation with the border, havenāt tried that one yet but once the logo style is chosen I will make several versions of it; these are not final versions, many details need to be corrected and Iām waiting for a high res logo from Thorfire as well.
Like all the ideas.
That 8-pointed star instead of Thorfire logo, nice idea.
Barry is going to discus our wishlist with the engineers this week, because well that is slightly more important then a logo
We have not even asked for a high Res logo, will do tomorrow. (And tonight I am going to hack and slice in kolourpaint to see how A D and E look with that 8 pointed star instead of the Thorfire logo.
How about āBLF FEā I will put it next to my BLF TE, which I like very much by the way.
Flooder edition and thrower edition. Cant wait to see them side by side.
Uhhā¦if youāre asking for opinions I like the thorfire icon much better. Plus thorfire is the one building the light (so far) so I see no problem with them getting a little nod on the branding.
Q
Quad emitter
Quad cell
Quad the current SRK preformance and Quality (there you have 4 Qs already
8 (maybe turns into 6)
18650
1 8 650 (or the more common 18 6 50)
Then if it all goes well a smaller AA/14500 version, baby SRK would be cool to make right after it. being the
Q4 (maybe Q5)
Same Q for Quad emitter, Quad cell
14500 size cells
1 4 500
14 5 00
And while we are at it, a faint distant idea of a smaller AAA/10440 version
Q2 (maybe Q4)
Same Q for Quad emitter, Quad cell
Q2 if the first is named Q8 and the second Q4 since 2 4 8 is kind of a logical sequence.
Q4 if the first one is gonna be the Q6 the second Q5
10440 size cells
10 4 40
And while we are at it, a faint distant idea of a bigger 26650 version
Now all logic is gone
Q10 of Q16 if the first is named Q8 since 2 4 8 10 / 2 4 8 16 is kind of logical
Q7 is the first one is gonna be the Q6, the second Q5, the third Q4
Kind of hope team Kronos will develop a X4 and X7 to add to the X5/X6 list.
Then Q6 for starters would be better.
But for now working title is Q8
I may be in the minority but I like ācā above. The inclusion of the eight pointed star is suggestive of the symbol often used in association with the cardinal points of the compass, and since it is the result of a collaborative effort of people in different countries with suggestions from many othersā¦
I would love to see the āfaint distant idea of a bigger 26650 versionā come to fruition, not just to light up the world, but for the potentially amazing runtimes on a medium-ish setting.
This seems like a really exciting time to become a flashlight enthusiast.
I so like the long runtimes of parallel configuration.
My Uniquefire UF 1401 s still going strong on low mode.
