the other day i saw some smart light starter kits on clearance for about $30 (i forget if it was the 3 or 6 price). if people are interested, i could go back try to take some pics if still available.
I just noticed these 2 items turned to the “3” price.
Just 2 days ago they were $15.88. I never paid attention because of the price. My interest in this photo is in my hand, a 2 piece combo for $5.03. The Coast lantern is in the upper left hand corner.
This is the second item that just went to the “3” price. Just prior to this they were $23.06, down from $28.00 which prior to that they were $29.97. Supposedly originally $34.97
But what most interested me it this:
.
.
Tons of the mini Mag combos. They were $24.97, then $20.00 and now at the “6” price of $19.06. We should all be watching that one closely because the date on the Energizer Lantern that just went to the “3” price is only 6 days older than the Mags. These mini Mags could go to the “3” price in another 6 days! (I am going to guess $5.03)
That would be sweet!
Wow! if the maglite combo goes to 5.03 these would be the BEST gifts for everyone in my list even without moding. i will scour every home depot within reach
Here is a couple of pictures of the Energizer Lantern in action. It has a fold out stand and the emitter lens can fold up. Here is some different configurations in a dark room.
It includes 4 -AA cells and can run on 4 or 8. The claim is it can run for 100 hours on 8 Alkaline. I don’t know how, there is only on and off and it claims to put out 330 Lumen.
Right now I have 4-1500mAh NiMH and am going to see how long it will take to run that down
haha - no i have not yet found that deal; it’s been 2 days since i last visited a home depot. i am in NYC, and take public transportation or walk to all my locations
I saw a ryobi battery powered weed whacker thing sticking out of a clearance shelf; it was $40 or something like that, discounted from something above $100
Thank you dcho (been saying that alot lately). I tried out that jump starter thing you tore down in Post 1166. I have a battery that is failing. When I try to start the car in the morning, it will click and try to turn over, but can’t. The car has been sitting over a week without any usage. I checked the voltage before trying to start it and it was at 11.68 volts. The V6 3.1L wouldn’t start. I hooked up the jumper and noted the time. I expected it to take sometime to achieve solid green light. So I walked away. I came back by the car a couple minutes later and was surprised it was already ready. I checked voltage and it was 13.58v. Just about perfect. Car turned over and started with great enthusiasm (like a new, charged battery was in the car). So I can testify that the thing works great.
Make sure to charge all yours up and recharge ever 3 to 6 months. The manual mentions parasitic drain (paraphrasing).
That reminds me of that video I saw of a review of a power bank that you can use to jump start your car, but it also was able to start the car without any lead-acid battery! Very interesting how such a tiny pack can start a car.
I got an added bonus with my jump starter thingy. I was able to return the $120 size 27 car battery that I had been lugging around in the back of my van for the last 2 months. I had a hard time with something draining my battery if the van sat for a couple of days. Turned out to have been a 3rd party security system that was installed. As some might know, once a lead acid battery is drained it is never the same. They like to see little or moderate use and then topped off. That $20 pack actually netted my $100! I got the size 27 battery at Home Depot and because the red cap covering the positive battery post I could prove I never installed it. Home Depot refunded my money.
