Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Some folks are digging the 3 D Defiant for $14.06 - 2nd shelf all the way to the left.

There are 6 at my store - but I want it for “03” Price!

Or even better - the $0.01 - But not holding my breath.

Here is an “3” price that I came across today

24 Alkaline AA cells for $1.33! and there are still plenty left.
But wait, those are AAA cells above, not AA. I quickly searched everywhere for the AA’s but there were none.
Oh well, but then I thought to price check the AAA’s and yes they scanned for $1.33. So, happy again.
Next I checked the yellow tag to see what that scanned for. Was is mislabeled or was there also AA cells for 1.33 and I missed out. Turns out there were and they were all gone, none in stock. In fact none in stock in any store in the area.
These AAA cells will go perfectly with cheap 9 LED lights that I posted about above. Although they came with cells, it will be good when I give them out to all my nephews and nieces.
Here’s a question. If you came across this deal, and there were 18 packs of 24 cells, how many would you buy?

Here is another deal I forgot to post. This was from 2 weeks ago when I was traveling and came from a store in MA.
These are the original CREE light bulbs with the heavy heat sink, glass globes. 23.8 year life span. The price includes a MA electric subsidy.

When I came back to this display with a shopping cart there was an elderly gentleman and his wife. He had one of them in his hand and was telling her that these were the new CFL’s. He told her he knew that because they had the big base, pointing to the heat sink. Then he told her they take along time to get bright.
I politely told him that no, these were the even newer LED bulbs and that they were instant on. I went on to tell him that normally these were $10 each and they were no 97 cents and that he should do himself a favor and buy at least 1 and try it out. When he found out how good they were he should hurry back to buy more before they are all gone.
Then I proceeded to fill up my shopping cart. You would think THAT would convince him, but no. It must have been that 23.8 year life span. Probably didn’t want to leave behind working light bulbs to their heirs. They walked away.
Arrggggh.

Back Seat O CREE’s

You know this deal finding is getting a little comfusing. A couple of days ago I found that the “03” price came to these 2 items

But just 5 miles away at my other “Home town” store, they were still at full list price. During my travels thru NY, PA and OH, all stores had them on clearance at the “06” price.

Damn it, why aren’t those Cree bulbs on sale at my HD. That’s all I use in the house. I’ve had one outside lighting up the front porch going on 3 years now. It’s on every night, and sometimes weeks at a time. They also work pretty good on a dimmer.

Somehow i’m not surprised :frowning:

Just so I don’t have to read through a bunch of older posts, what is an “03” prices and an “01” price?

Thanks,
Jim

Typically, but not always, HD sells stuff at their regular price. Sometimes they clear stuff out. This is how it sometimes goes and I will use an item that regularly sells for $99.97
First sale price might end with “.00”, say $95.00
After awhile if they don’t clear out they will discount it about 25% and that price will end with “06” say $75.06
If after about 6 weeks and it does not sell out they will mark it down about 75% and that price will end with “03”, say $25.03
Then after about 3 weeks if they do not clear out, they mark it at a penny in their system and pull the stock from the shelf and throw it away
Sometimes, they miss stock on the shelf, either someone goofs and doesn’t pull it, or the item is in the wrong place and they can’t find it, or someone returns that item to returns desk and it gets put back on a shelf, or it looks to much like another item and they pull the wrong one, etc.
At any rate, if you find such an item it will scan for a penny at the self checkout lane.
If you go to the full service lane, they will likely not let you buy it.

EDIT:
For example, I remember you just got a Ridgid drill on sale for $99.00. That was the first step of the clearance process.
I don’t know what the regular price was, but say it was 129.95. If it was and it didn’t sell at 99.00 the might reduce it 25% of to say 97.06 If it didn’t sell at that price (not likely) it could be reduced 75% and be priced at say $33.06
Very rarely do we see crazy good deals like that.
Here are a couple of examples of that kind of stuff.

One

Interesting story; it’s amazing how many people out there are wrong or mistaken. :weary:
Amazing deal :money_mouth_face: :frowning:

Miscellaneous

well - am i disappointed… i checked the 3 home depots around here, and NONE of them even had the mag combos. so no waiting for the “3” price for me…

My local HD doesn’t have much in the way of good clearance unless you need door knobs and light fixtures… products rarely go below the .06 price.

My HD the next town over is much better… I was able to get 4 tubs of 96ct Tide washing detergent pods for $11 each, regularly about $18. I’ll keep on eye on if they drop more.

Dchomak, how often do you visit each HD in your area? Once per day? Every other? Once per week? I’ve been going about once per week, but sometimes feel I should go more often. It’s hard though, sciatic nerve damage/pain makes it hard to walk through each aisle in that big store… clearance is not always in the front, nor back of the store.

My work puts me in a HD or Lowes almost everyday. I have already be to Lowes this morning looking for plain white bathroom tile. They didn’t have enough pieces on hand for me. In fact there was another guy there loading up a cart with the 250 pieces of tile that he needed. Had already cleaned another store out of the 50 they had in stock. He needs a total of 1000 to do the job! And people wonder why contractors charge so much. Sometimes they spend all their time hunting down supplies.
All I am looking for is standard white 4 x 4 ceramic wall tiles. If I go to a tile store, chances are I will have to order them anyway, BUT if I were to need more…… That is one benefit of Lowes or HD, they are everywhere and open late and weekends.
On the way out Lowes I spotted a 4 pack of the same AAA cells that I got for $1.33 at HD. A 24 pack

Lowes has a 4 pack for $2.97

I had wondered about that too, i thought it might be a hobby or you work next door or something

poiiy, of your pics, this is the one that caught my eye.

This is the Defiant 3C, Pro Series. It is finally at the “3” price. But most importantly look at the DOB!

02/08/16!
Maybe the Mag Pro 2 pack goes to the “3” price tomorrow.
It’s DOB is 1 day later, 02/09/16

Wouldn’t it be nice to get this for around $5?

what does this device do?

I finally found where the deals are kept at my Home Depot, on shelves by the back door to the garden center. Was I excited! Sunday they had the Defiant triple AAA flashlight for the “6” price and they had about 4 units. It was about half of the $17.99. I made a mental note. On Monday after work I went in and sure enough the price had gone to the “3” price $4.53. But, there were none. I wondered how dchomak had made it here (OKC) from the northeast! They also had had some Defiant headlights

Apparently, when you see things you want at the .06 mark, you need to hide them from dchomak under a bunch of bags of fertilizer or something for 9 weeks, then come back to retrieve them and buy them for a penny!

Yesterday I saw the woman at HD that goes around with a printer and actually changes the prices. I went up to her and told her point blank what I was waiting for. That would be the markdown to the “3” price on the Mini Mag Pro combo pack. I gave her my UPC code that I printed out and she looked it up. Priced at $19.06. I asked her if she was going to mark it down that day (Monday) so she looked at her list and said no, then checked Tuesday and Wednesday. Not those days either.
I told her I was afraid I would miss that deal as I know they would disappear the instant they were marked down.
Then she told me not to worry, when she marks them down, she will throw one way in the back, just for me.
She actually said that!

BTW, I went there again last night, after supper. I was going to make some more of the 1S2P adapters for 3C lights that ImA4Wheelr invented. I needed some 3/4” well pump tubing. HD used to sell it in 2 foot lengths cheap. Now all they had was 100 foot rolls. On Sunday I came across those 24 packs of AAA cells for $1.33. I took 16, but left 2 for someone else. Now 24 hours later I was back, and guess what? Those 2 packs were still there! So I bought them too. No guilt

Then when I got into the tool section I came across this. How poetic. I thought these were long gone, 10 lights and 30 AAA cells. Those 24 packs of AAA alkaline cells are beter than the standard type that are included. Perfect replacements.

I grabbed 2 and and headed for the checkout. On the way I ran into the tool guy. Right away, when he noticed the lights, he asked me where I got them. I told him in the tool section, like he wouldn’t know? I told hem there were going to probably ring up for around $4 and he started to tell me that 2 years ago there were 2 packs of that same kind of light on clearance. I cut him off and said they were 2 for $1 right? I told them that one day they were there and then the next they were all gone, as though someone grabbed them all. He said, yeah that was me. I used them for the Boy Scouts. That’s the second time a guy from the Boy Scouts has gotten in the way of me buying flashlights.
After talking to him, I went back and got 2 more. They rang up for $3.83

This morning because it is raining and I can’t do yard work, I went to another nearby store to get those lengths of tubing for the 1s2p adapters. I found them

While I was looking around that store I came across this.
That CREE bulb on the right, hanging without a price tag is a high CRI bulb. I can recognize it from a distance due to the rainbow of colors on the package.

Months and months ago it was cleared out at the “3” price of $4.03 After that it would have gone to a penny.
This was too much time for even that. I brought it up anyway, hoping that it would still be a penny, but no such luck.
So old it’s not even in the system anymore.

Point is, stuff is still out there!

I left the store happy though, I found my precious tubing

Here is what the 1s2p adapter looks like. This allows using 2 - 18650’s in a 3C light. The voltages are about right and everything works really well as is.

Did you try and talk them into selling it to you?

I didn’t bother, it would have been taken a lot of time and what would it result in? Even if I got it for a dollar, I did as well at Costco when I got a bunch of high CRI bulbs there for a dollar each. And they were 60W equivalents, not 40’s

BTW, it seems everywhere I go I see bargains. Sunday my wife wanted to go to Target, I dropped here of and went next door to Lowes while she shopped. I finished early and went into Target to find her. Within a minute I’m seeing items marked at 0.00! I shot pics of a couple.

I showed my wife the pics and she asked how I do that. Do what I asked?
How do you make prices drop like that just by walking in the store?
She made me show the checkout girl and she called the manager. Turns out they have a new person putting up the stickers and they screwed up. How bad I don’t know, we left.
