Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I checked 5 of the 10 Home Depot stores in my area and none had any. The closest store had 2 at the $21.06 on Monday but on Tuesday they were gone and the price was still the same but may have change. I had an associate check the stock in all the stores and none showed as having any. I still checked a few more stores and there were none. On Monday a store close to my job had 6 $14 Defiant headlamps at the $3.83 price. I secreted one to check later. On Tuesday the 5 were all gone so I hoped they had gone to a penny. I checked my hidden one and it was still $3.83. Stashed it back, but I havenā€™t had a chance to check. Iā€™ll see if itā€™s still there on Monday and if the price has gone to a penny. Iā€™m determined to get something for one cent! You just have to constantly check enough stores to have a chance at hitting the correct timing.

Honestly, Iā€™m good with just getting stuff at a ā€œ3ā€ price. I figure hat after I calculate my fuel costs and such for driving around to all the stores, Iā€™m not really saving much. Depends what the product is.

Across the board, anything I can get for 50% off thatā€™s under $20 is a good deal. If those items cost me less than $10 I got a super deal. Of course higher regular price items Iā€™d be willing to pay more forā€¦. If a $130 tool or some widget is down to 30-35 bucks, that too is a good deal.

Iā€™m also to the point where I canā€™t hoard stuff that was only a good deal. I need to have a use for it, even if itā€™s juts to gift it.

so i did see a few more of the defiant armormax 590 lumens at 7.53 at some locations, but didnā€™t buy them. i already bought one before. letā€™s see if they last to the penny price

I went to HD yesterday and found virtually nothing at a good discount. But while looking at the flashlights a guy was showing his buddy his favorite light. I think it was a Coast zoomie for about $35.

ā€œ350 lumens! Check this out!ā€ and he shined the light at the back of the shelf. I pulled out my Astrolux S1 and shined it on high next to his. He picked his jaw up off the floor and asked me the name and where to buy it. Another convert?

Probably. Lol. Even an old XML T6 at 2.1-2.8A will blow a 350lm light away. Coast isnā€™t a bad light, and while 350lm is enough for most ppl, for those of us used to 800-1200lm lights, itā€™s not super.

Well with all this Maglite stuff going on and RadioShaq finding some at a penny, I figured it was about time I started looking for penny stuff again. I had been neglecting that. Surely if RadioShaq can do it, I CAN TOO!
Anyway during my trip last week I found some penny lights.

All for a penny each. Not exactly MagLites :confounded: But hey, it was the best I could do.
Congratulations to RS, he has found the ā€œHoly Grailā€ of penny deals.
Actually I did find 8 of the Xenon Mags at a penny apiece, but only bought 2. On my return trip I stopped in an HD in New York. Same store I found 2 of the ā€œWingmansā€ at $7.53. In the flashlight section I checked the over head an saw this.
The arrow points to a full sleeve of Xenon Mags.

I crawled up 2 shelves, pushed to box on top backwards and retrieved the first 2 Mags. Then checked out.

I did have a hard time checking out though, the machine would NOT take cash.
When I left I went next door for lunch to think about whether or not I wanted to risk climbing up again. (Concrete floors)
Then I suddenly realized that the 2 lights I retrieved at a penny apiece were not on the retail floor! To me, itā€™s one thing to get an item for a penny when it is out and for sale and another when it is in storage.
So I decided that was it,and continued my journey.

Some times Home Depot makes it too easy. I found these 2 liquid soap dispensers on the clearance rack priced at a penny!

The Dremel tool was marked at $13.06, but because of the date I new it would ring up for a ā€œ3ā€ price. In this case $5.03
That tool is compatible with most of the oscillating heads, I have a 12V Ridgid.

Awesome finds - dchomak!!

well, i might have let the deal of the century goā€¦ last week on my search for maglites i noticed a makerbot 3D printer in clearance. i remember thinking - huh, so homedepot sells 3D printers - and thought nothing more about it. a few days later, i started googling to see if there were other sites listing homedepot penny deals and came across http://slickdeals.net/f/7735565-dedicated-thread-home-depot-b-m-ymmv-clearances-xx-06-xx-03-1-cent-deals-and-other-significant-discounts. it had the 3D printer listed at a penny!!! so back i went the next day and it was goneā€¦

by the way - where in New York was that Xenon maglite find?

So youā€™re willing to climb the shelves?
I will PM you which one.

BTW, I got lots of other penny deals to, too many to list.

i wonā€™t lie - the thought did cross my mind  but its a bit too far for me. so will save the climbing for a future date. used to work in stocking a long time back - and i was a spiderman!

I assume it works the same in the US as Canada, if i need something thats stacked or on the top shelf they will bring out the vehicle to bring down the pallets, and someone walks in front of it with flags while it beeps on its way to the correct aisle.

Damn poiihy. Nice finds. I would have snagged a pry bar, deadbolt, and 1ā€ T for sure.

^
Thatā€™s not a pry bar, this is a pry bar

I passed on the smaller bars as I already had some, but that big one. Just had to have it. There were 2 and they were marked down to $7.53.
In the background Iā€™m in the middle of boxing up lights to various BLFerā€™s. I just noticed the price on the Tape Dispenser and 2 rolls of tape. Staples has good deals too!

Dchomak, thatā€™s called a ā€œStud Wrenchā€ around here- itā€™s used to un-twist poor lumber. Nail one end straight, un-twist, then nail other end straight. Good framers use those a lot, you canā€™t get decent lumber anymore

Phil

Thats one hell of a pry bar!

My store only had the little guys. Still useful but sometimes you just need a bigger tool.

And I thought it was some sort of demolition bar :rage:

Good for that too. Twist nailed studs loose by using it right against the plate and the stud wonā€™t split.
For ā€˜whackingā€™ things I love my sledgehammer- Iā€™ve worn out (not by damage) 2 handles and have years left in the 3rd as long as I donā€™t miss or loan it out :smiling_imp:

I have finally achieved penny-purchase nirvana! This headlight was at $3.83 for about a week. I took it to the register to do a price check and suddenly the screen was surrounded by rays of light emanating from the screen with heavenly choirs lifting their voices to the firmament! The price was 1 penny. I quickly paid and hurried from the store before my dream could be shattered by reality. It was originally $14.99. Itā€™s like the commercial at Christmas where Santa sees the big, giant M&Ms and says, ā€œThey do exist!ā€ before he passes out. (If a picture shows up, itā€™s from random website. Iā€™ll post a picture of the item and sales slip when I get home tonight.)
