LG LEDs, Anyone?

I couldn’t help but wonder…

Has anyone had experience with LG’s product line of white LEDs? More specifically, the H35C4 is the “new” marked LED line I was just glancing at. Link: http://led.lginnotek.com/ (On home page: “Products” drop-down, then under “High-Power” LED Packages you’ll see the H35C4 at the top of that list section.)

Notice that they have a package type and die size that looks very similar to a Cree XP-G2 (and is also a very likely dedome candidate). The LG H35C4 has a 1.5A rating, also like the XP-G2. In the spec sheet, 70CRI CW at 1.5A is rated at 560 lumens output. Of course, even with XP-G3s out, it’s well known an LED near the XP-G2 die size but with lower vF (that can also be dedomed) is still a desirable product gap that needs filling. That is especially true for 1S light builds. Couldn’t hurt to scope more options! Wondered if there could be something good there potentially lurking under the table.

I also noticed that they have some equally interesting UV LEDs marked as “new” products. The LG “3535 1in1 H1” 1.7W UV LED achieves nearly 50% conversion of input energy to light, based on the initial specs—which is pretty good if you ask me. The 405, 395, and 385nm LEDs are rated at 1950mW output at 1.0A input.

have no relevant experience :weary:

I’ve been looking at these a lot lately… the 90 CRI, 5700K+ variety shown on the datasheet looks particularly interesting.

I have been eyeing the H35C4 leds for over a year now and found no route to obtain any in small quantities. The H35C1 version shows up regularly on Aliexpress (as is an older generation of 385nm LG leds that perform great, I made a 9x SRK clone mod with these leds that produces a scary amount of 385nm light) and is listed on Fasttech and they perform pretty ok, but dedoming them is as challenging as any non-Cree led.

Last year I wrote to the European representative of LG-Innotek for samples of the H35C4 and that on paper very impressive new UV led (the 365nm version), and they redirected me to a German seller that did not respond to my request.

So yes, LG is probably making some very interesting leds, but as there’s no way to get your hand on the most recent versions they are not so interesting anymore :frowning:

Perhaps from where you are it is easier to get to them, BLF-member Jubeldum had a promising contact with the American representative of LG-Innotek to get some of the newest UV-leds before he stopped posting about it a few months ago.

Interesting. I will do some digging and see what I can turn up. These might just be worth the trouble. For dedoming, I’ve found for the most part, if there’s a will there’s a way. Some solutions work too quickly, and need to be diluted, so that the dome is allowed to expand internally much as externally before it decides to lift itself. The fastest acting method is definitely not the best. I found this to be especially true with the 219C and XPG3.

Fasttech has a bunch of them and they are cheap, thought several times to order them but never did, testing emitter output is not exactly my virtue :weary:

Very interesting. That LED appears to be 80 cri and 154 lm/w @350mA. http://led.lginnotek.com/

Yes, the specs seem to be good.
I put one in a flashlight recently and i really like the tint.
Although iḿ not sure which exact type it is, i got them from DX couple of years ago with nice TIR optics.
Only recently i bothered to actually check the LEDs out…
I think i will buy a batch of 10 of the 4000K ones. They’re apparently 80 CRI
Maybe Djozz will be interested to test them, i could send him one or two.

I have a few of those 4000K 80CRI LG’s, and the thing is that with just the type code given on aliexpress you can not be sure which series it is. The latest series with the best specs is the H35C4, which would indeed be nice to test against other modern leds, but these on aliexpress more likely are H35C1 or H35C2.
Samsung leds btw are (perhaps not coincidentally) very similar to LG leds, and I tested their latest 3535 led with best bin and the performance is not as good as the latest Cree/Osram/Nichia leds. testing a Samsung LH351B series 5000K 70CRI led

But the tint is indeed very good!

Turns out i bought 2 LEDs + TIR optics (good ones, beam and spill are the same so no rainbow effect) twice from DX, i just found the other 2 somewhere i forgot i put them.
But these are Samsung LEDs.
And they’re quite differently constructed.
The Samsungs are very warm white, even warmer than the Fasttech 219A LEDs.
Good red reproduction !

I will take some pictures soon, i think i’ll use Fakebook to upload them.
