A statment:the COMETA flashlight is not a Jaxman product

(between Cometa and Z1)

Key fact. That’s the later ones, made for sale — not the samples.

(The first round “V1” samples, shown in the pictures on the Italian site, appear to be actual Jax Z1 lights and boxes.)

I managed to get a full refund in 7 days. Be polite but firm!

I realize Manker made the Cometa from Banggood specs (so they say), however, Manker has control over the engineers, the machining, and the quality control aspects of the whole deal.
Let me ask Mankerlight a couple questions. Being that everyone knows you are a flashlight manufacturer, and that you manufactured the Cometa. Was money more important building a defective, sloppy, and potential dangerous light, than building a quality safe light, knowing full well hundreds of these would end up in the hands of people who have little or no knowledge of modifying flashlights? Did you not consider this would damage your reputation? What about the MCPCB design flaws of the S41 or the E14? Although not at the same level of incompetence, none the less, obviously very little thought process. Is there a problem at the Manker factory where engineers are not allowed to speak up when they see a potentially dangerous design flaw? Do you actually have engineers?

Don’t you have the responsibility to tell the non-engineers at Banggood the design is flawed and potentially dangerous?

to The Miller, the cometa OP said that the light would be made by Jaxman, and not just “based on” a Jaxman light. many ppl commented that they were glad the light would not be made by Manker, and there are still posts on the second page saying that the light would be made by Jax. I would never had bought it had I known it would be made by Manker, due to past mistakes and spec changes. The Jaxman info was later deleted from the OP. I was the first one to point out that the Jaxman info had been deleted, and many other posts were deleted or edited regarding the planned manufacturer. As soon as i pointed this out, Kronos spoke up and told me not to say anything about the deleted info. I, of course, found this to be very suspicious, especially since Kronos is so closely aligned with Manker. George, you are, as always, welcome to comment.

i would ask admin to restore all the deleted info from the COMETA group buy thread so we can see everything that was said.

The design of Jaxman Z1 costed us about 1 year time. There are about 20 pcs components supplied by 10 factories in 1 set of Z1. All parts’size are accurate manufatured, and adjustd many times even a O ring.

It is very normal that there are kinds of problems in such a lens flashlight built by fully copied only outlook not structure, and even in so short days.

I confirm that:Jaxman and Manker are brand manufacturers of flashlights. We are familiar with eachother well by Chinese forum. Manker should know what is a Jaxman Z1 looks like.

I am very disappointed that our counterparts make a 100% outlook copy flashlights for other re-seller.We should respect each other, and should care of our reputations, not only benefit.

Thanks you.

Manker can’t even make good copies of their own lights. their short tubes never did fit the A6, and their parts don’t lego from one light to another of the same light. Manker is the Keystone Kops of the flashlight world.

Mr. Jaxman, please help BLF make a good custom flashlight MADE BY JAXMAN… THX

Hi, Hank,

Banggood is one of our dealers as I said at begin of the topic. They really have been selling Jaxman Z1 flashlights for a long time. We agree to sell JAXMAN Z1 them and agree them resell Z1 to guys all over the world. While we never agree them to sell Z1 host and copied Z1 in another name.

the link of Banggood you give us is a old version Jaxman Z1 .
the link of CPFitalia is a Jaxman Z1 except drive and LED. We think xpl hi is not a proper lamp for LENS flashlight.

> the link of Banggood you give us is a old version Jaxman Z1 .

What is different between the old version and current version?
Can people like us tell by looking at a web page whether it’s the old version or the current one?
Can you suggest a reseller that has your current version for sale?

Thank you for commenting. It is very good to have direct words between us and the people making the flashlights.

hi, Hank, the on-sale Jaxman Z1 is a 4th version. The adjust is mainly pointed to little range alternations, such as O rings slot, threads length, head ring shape, lens coating, and accessories. I confirm the link mentioned is the old version because Logo is still JAX.JAX has cant be resigstered by China Industry and Commercial Government. So we registered JAXMAN as our normal trade mark, and we have regisitered successfully. From 2016.03.21 to 2026.03.20, is the 1st legal protection 10 years of the trade mark.

Because of many reseller wont tell us their trade name overseas,so we only know 2 of them, one is Banggood, and the other is HK equipment.I has found AD of HK equipment here. You can contact HK equipment for more information.

Best regards

@cyberscudo: im in the cometa list, EU warehouse #165 and #166. As i cannot post there pls take it from here and cancel for now #166, THX.

It has taken BangGood about 6 weeks to comment on here after they were first made aware of all the problems with the Cometa.
Even then all they have said is
“we are sorry for using JAXMAN’s outlook,
the COMETA is a customized light with BLF X5/X6’s driver.
The lens are not from JAXMAN and structure has some change.”
So they have apologised to Jaxman for misleading buyers into thinking the light was made by Jaxman but not a word about the problems with the Cometa.
No apology to buyers for misleading them.
No mention if they are working on resolving any of the multiple problems with this light.
They have added an insulating disc to the underside of the pill, that was not on the early lights that were sold, but that seems to be as far as they have gone.
CPF Italia have been waiting at least 4 weeks for their lights but have had no word from BG as to when they can expect them or if any modifications have or will be carried out to them to address the problems.
Personally I suspect that there will be no modifications carried out other than the addition of the pill insulating disc, which only addresses one of the lights problems, as if there are then they will have to offer these modifications or new modified lights to everyone that has already received one.
:frowning:

Hi Bella,
you know, that i m expecting your
Jaxman Z1 xhp50 review

Hopefully I will have it in about 12-14 days time
I will do a full review & should have a working calibrated light tube by then so will be able to give some reasonably accurate figures as well
I am pretty sure my experience with it will be the complete polar opposite to my experience with the Cometa”s I have received

Well it was me seeing an interesting correlation between 100 lenses bought and roughly 100 Cometas sold and dead silence on the remaining 400
IDK if the lenses used are jaxs or not.

OOH Bella-Headlight, that sounds great!

Reading this thread is interesting.

jaxman, through no fault of his own; is accused by some to be complicit in this Cometa debacle.
Even after both Banggood & Mankerlight posts indicate he is not in any way.

Why was he accused of this in the first place?
It seems he sold Banggood “about 100 pcs Z1 ar+af lenses for aftersale service”. Where is the ‘crime’ in that??

Thank goodness many more people than not openly expressed their support of jaxman as well as him coming forth with the information he began this thread with.
Hats off to him for being straight forward. :+1:

The people who could have answered questions and helped avoid most, if not all of the uproar about this light; have been woefully absent from all Cometa threads and all but silent since the release of the lights. No meaningful communication at all.
And it has been mentioned that people are still waiting for replies from Cyberescudo and/or Banggood for solutions.
Just how long should that take???
This was all mentioned somewhat in THIS POST however.

And please don’t bring up the offer of an “insulating ring/washer” as meaningful.

The Cometa threads are full of contradictions, misdirection, misrepresentation, unfounded “hype”, and some truth also…… all mixed together in the posts of huge unmanageable threads.

But, the truth of what really happened is in the posts of those threads.
Most people will not take or do not have the time to read every post in every thread.

But until you have read them all, at least once; it will just remain a convoluted mess in your mind and commentary will only be speculation. Which will in turn add more to the “convoluted mess”.

And yes, in case anyone is wondering; I have read every post… at least one time. Just so happens I had the spare time & did it. That time ends in a couple of days though…… back to the grind.

For instance, was this a collaboration between the BLF Team and CPFi?
Sure it was, we were told that back in January.

And this innocent statement should have been a red flag also.

These two little tidbits are but the tiny tip of the iceberg. The rest of the story & answers are hiding in plain sight in the massive Cometa threads.

If you really honestly want to get an idea of what really happened, get your reading glasses and have at it. :+1:

Sigh…. What a mess! It has cost too much time of all BLFers!

It seems that the COMETA was prepared many weeks ago. During this time, no any party tell us about the Group buy of Z1 type lens torch by BLF guys. And the Banggood had purchased about 100 pcs lens at 2 times total, and we never would like to sell the lens to any dealer. While according to the good relationship between a manucaturer and a transfer-seller of Jaxman products, we have to sell 100 pcs to Banggood as they said ”repaire parts”.

As a merchant, honest should be the first principle to hold. As a partner, you cant cheat us so fully. And we never think a modification of drive and LED is a obvious innovation. In fact a XPL HI lamp is not proper for Z1,so we wont develop XPL hi version Z1.The XPL HI spot will have a square around the lightest area. XML (2),XPG (2),XHP, even xpl are without this problem.

As customizing product for BLF, we would like of course. And my English is not good, so we may have negotiation hazards. I would like to hear simple solutions of customization for BLF. Pls don’t make simple things to a mess. I would like to hear from you via zx.bao@foxmail.com.

really,Most people will not take or do not have the time to read every post in every thread!

Please read about the driver we have developed in the Q8 topic (first link sig)
The parts should fit a 22mm board
The Narsil software is about ideal for all type of flashlight and gives user total control how to operate the flashlight.
It is however for a electronic switch.
The Bistro of course works great with tail clickers, again packed with options so users can choose how to operate the light themselves.

EDIT PS I won’t email you, we are working with Thorfire on the Q8

> Why was he accused of this in the first place?

Well, think about it.

Remember people jumping all over me — and others — repeatedly in public posts?
I got a belated apology in PM but nobody else sees that.

Accusations come because people who already know there hasn’t been an answer
keep chanting that there must be an answer and it must be someone’s fault.

That is just not the right way to have a group public conversation.

The threads you mention were littered with accusations that people have later regretted.

Yet, if people go back to edit out their mistakes the whole thread pops up as new to everyone,
and then others get all jumped up about that.

Catch-22.
Our host wisely cleaned out a lot of the stuff.
But you know there really is one good answer.

Don’t hit SEND.

Drop it and wait.
You won’t get an answer until there’s an answer.
If the screwup gets swept under the rug, well, that happens with bigger things than flashlights.

My advice about the past problem:
—- calmly and repeatedly post a review on the seller’s web page.
You may never see your review appear.
But those get noticed in ways blog posts do not.

Most of China is behind a firewall and they can’t — reliably — even read what’s written here.
_

Most encouraging news yet —- the exchange between Jaxman and Sharpie, just above.

That’s got to happen outside the public thread.

Trust them to work on it.

We already know the other half — trust but verify.

Let’s polish up our QA and QC competence, eh?
We ought to be able to get good at it.
