New Mr.Lite AA = J4 now @ Lightake.com

Yes, I feel the same. I just wish it had a pocket clip.

What do you guys think about the "AR" lense?

Anti-Reflective or AR is very good, but on the pictures Daniel posted they looked kind of milky. I hope that is not the case on the final light. You will gain a few lumens, if the AR is good. You can even buy them as DIY parts.

Ahh, duh, Anti-Reflective. Thanks!

But actually, apart from that, I think it's a collimating lense or something like that. Richard @ Mrlite mentioned something about that, and I forgot to make note of it.

Really? That would be a deal-breaker for me. I hope that isn't the case.

I remember he said "the J4 doesn't have a reflector, it has a <some acronym> lens."

OK, then we really need someone to review this, before I'm willing to put money on an order. I heard horrible things about collimating lenses, but never owned one.

Most likely a TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optic like the MX Power ML-310. Basically, you get a huge hotspot. Will do some pics.

It was some two letter acronym. But at any rate, Asia is asleep right now, we can get in contact with Richard @ Mrlite when they wake up. I think he actually designed this light, he's quite knowledgeable about it.

Here's a TIR optic in a MX Power ML-310 on high with a 14500 at 60cm (2') from the ceiling. The normal beam on the left is from a Trustfire F25 on a 14500 and high.

Ah, thanks Don! Looks interesting. Would probably be useful in some situations. Hmm, maybe that's what it has, then.

Sounding good. Looking at the J1, J2 and J3 pics on the MrLite website, they appear to be antireflection coated glass and the cloudiness may just be an artefact of the way it is lit. I have seen such "cloudiness" from camera lenses when lit from the side.

However, the J4 is styled very differently from the J1-3 so may be a completely different light internally.

A J3 with our choice of modes might be attractive to many, though personally I prefer the more restrained styling of the J4. I'm not a big fan of pocket clips, they don't seem to work for me - I much prefer the Batbelt approach with holsters on a belt.

Looks like rendered/3D images to me, Don Not real photos I think.

Looking at those photos @ LT, J4 seems to be a CR123 light and not AA

BTW, fran, it costs $20,99, so lil bit more than 20

I think he was being sarcastic... but obviously google translation hasn't a Spanish -> English sarcasm exporter.

I am on the verge of ordering this light, but now i am curious about sashiX's comment. I'll wait to see if mr. lightake has anything to say about this light :)

It does look a little short on the pictures... but if the technical specifications are right it measures 102X23 mm , which is a little thicker than most 1xAAs. Daniel send me technical specs via skype... they also say 1AA...hmmm... but they also say >Replaceable and rechargeable lithium polymer battery<... pics 1,3,4 look like for a 1x123 battery and pic 2 like 1xAA... totally confused... maybe they just used rendering pics and we will see a whole flashlight family with different models and they just used them for advertising.. dunno.

Update: The pic 2 clearly shows a different light... look where the knurling begins.

D'oh! No, really, I hardly use it. Still remember the english I studied in school Not as good as it was before, I have to recognize it. lol

UPDATE: as for the light... it's the same light on all pics 3 and 4 pics are the same.

I meant fran82 with his shout-out , with the sarcasm - "AH YES!!!! Less than 20 dollars!" because Daniel mentioned that it could be cheaper than 20 bucks... but he didn't promise.

It's so crowded here nowadays - I really should start use your "@"-methode. Look at the body of pic2 ... doesn't it seem to be longer and sleeker?... also the knurling doesn't connect with the next part of the flashlight-body. But you have to look hard... it is better visible HERE (1+2 =123 ; 3=AA).

I dont think it has any sort of LENS , I think its just an optical illusion from the reflector behind the lens [ regular ] ..

Yeah , that body does look a bit like a CR123A host . Though Pic 2 does look more AA , hmmm , could it be , AA / 14500 ?
