Re-post: How to deal with trolls

One thought ā€” we all can slip.

I try to think of trolling ā€” an activity, a verb, a behavior, something I might be doing
If I donā€™t think twice about what I write.
Itā€™s laying the bait out there, taking up the slack on the line, and just waiting to see who takes the bait.

Or not doing, and not is better.

A powerful few questions worth considering, at

http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2016/03/heres-a-test-to-measure-your-need-for-drama.html

Thatā€™s a measure for oneā€™s tendency to veer into drama.

Thatā€™s not the dedicated kind of trolling ā€” what our host talks about in the original post, done by people who search for online forums and troll the hell out of them, singly or in organized groups.

Anyone who hasnā€™t read the alt.syntax.tactical FAQ from the Usenet days should look it up. The article is ancient in Internet years, but the methods still work.

The ā€œneed for dramaā€ test is kind of a measure of our susceptibility to that stuff.

Eschew.

Sadly, also people with low self-esteem issues want to gain approval from their peers will often act this way. Lonely people. Sometimes also a man who is highly controlled by his wife will try to gain control of others in a discussion group like these. Brown nosing is another real popular one, an attempt to gain acceptance from his peers to feel as though he/she is part of a group.

lol

This thread apparently needs another bump. :person_facepalming:

I sense a lot of unnecessary rudeness and trollish behavior lately, specially with some of the ā€œnewā€ members.

One of my favorite dumb movies of all times  Iā€™ll probably watch it tonight.

I just love to inflict verbal trauma
And just kick back and bask in the drama
Iā€™ll make a big scene
Then Iā€™ll say something mean
Like ā€ Why donā€™t you go cry to your momma !ā€

I mistreat all my internet friends
Only weaklings try to make amends
ā€™Cause when I make you sad
It wonā€™t make ME feel bad
I am paid well in dark dividends

I may seem like I really donā€™t care
As I post with a nonchalant air
Iā€™m a sociopath
and I love to feel wrath
Every thread Iā€™m in reeks of despair

So when you see me enter a thread
Does it instantly fill you with dread ?
You canā€™t stop me , you know
On and on I will go
Iā€™ll be flaming you on your deathbed

:smiling_imp:

Jack, you rhyme like no other. Glad to call you a BLF brother.

BTW, Iā€™ve been thinking about selling my house here in NY and moving down to FL. Itā€™s too damn expensive here for a retired guy! Iā€™d be honored to be a customer of yours if I end up in your neighborhoodā€¦

Maybe we need Pedroā€™s cousins to patrol the threads lol!

ā€œHell, everybody else does!ā€

:sunglasses:

(Tip from a Native: Learn to love sweat and DEET.)

isnā€™t that a big change? isnā€™t New York a cooler climate? Florida is hot and muggy? also add the alligators lol!

  1. Our Gators are friendlier than your Crocs :)
  2. Taxes are much much lower
  3. AC is cheaper than heat
  4. We have fewer truly muggy days than they do cold.
  5. Last...they change 100 degrees every 6 months...here it changes only 30 degrees (usually) and a 60...we complain like babies. LOL

I love your new poem jack.

@can- yesā€¦ That is a troll to meā€¦

Well, maybe a narcissist. Not necessarily a troll.

Trolling is a narcissistic activityā€¦ There is apparently no benefit in trolling if you are not narcissistic, so non narcissistic people do not engage in the activity.

Ergo, all trolls are narcissists.

when people get mad, they calm down by shopping and buying from the advertisers, which results in the forum continuing to sell ads to sellers. So trolling is good for the forum in general.

Best comment yet. Or youā€™re just trolling. I donā€™t know.

Speaking of trolls! This is how i roll lol!

Uh oh, sounds like a secret was let outā€¦ Lol that was a good chuckle, thanks Tarver!
